really weird thing happening

ok for like the last 5 hours "real time" playing tob ive had a problem. Each time i try to cast a spell or an enemy wizard trys to cast a spell then it goes into wild mage mode. It says wild surge:spell failed. THis happens for everythign except resurrection. PLZ HELP! i need to know if this is how it was meant to be or no. thank you

have you had installed any thirdparty fixes or mods?
and is your computer running win2000?

yup im under 2k will that do it?
and no i dont have any 3rd party utilities

yes, win2k is causing MANY problems with tob...go dl the betapatch for tob that may fix it, if not, mail bioware about it.
get the betapatch in the bg2 corner of the gamebanshee site

Are you on the third level of Watcher's Keep?
There are some rooms which are flush with wild magic and others are dead magic zones. This has played hell with me because I've got Imoen, Aerie and Nalia in my party, so the dead magic areas cause me to do a lot of creative cussing.
So it may be the game (intentionally) and not your machine.

thank you for your responses. under win 98 i had no problems. also it helped to reboot bg2. thank you once more
