Where do I get a Bag of Holding?

So here's my ironman party, tooling back to Homlette to sell the goodies after a hard day's looting on Level 4 of the dungeon. All five members are level 10, all have taken damage, and and all are carrying just as much as they can.

When I'm interrupted by an Encounter. So I'm standing waist-deep in water (why?), when a knight strides up and says he wants to reward me for rescuing Prince Thrommel. He then proceeds to give me a vast amount of cash, and a small collection of goodies, ending with a sword.

Now, I've heard good things about this sword. I've seen Prince T. use his to much effect. I've been looking forward to this ever since I read about it. Only thing is...

... I don't have any carrying slots at the moment.

I'd like to say "That's wonderful news, why don't we go to the pub and talk it over?" Or perhaps "Just a moment while I rearrange my inventory." Or even "Great, can you put it all in this sack please?" But I can't say any of those things. All I can say is "Thank you, thank you sir."

So he drops the gear. In a big pile. In the water. I eventually manage to find a few potions, a couple of rings and badges. But no sword.

Guess how happy I am?

Note to Atari: I spent 30 pounds and as many hours on this game. The time is gone, but give me my money back.

You can get Scather with the console commands in the game. Hold down shift and press the ~ button, select a character, then type "give 4016" in the console window that popped up, but without the quotations.

don't know why this: "we are super-heroes we even can walk on the water - damned we failed!"-bug a.k.a "we are to dumb to use a road when we can also walk in the river"-bug wasn't fixed in 2(!) patches !

Ordinaryjones - thanks, I'll try that. I haven't looked at the cheat codes, but on this occasion I'll feel positively Justified. :p

There's several ways I could suggest eliminating this annoyance.

Minimal code change: make this encounter happen in a different place. The knight says he had a heck of a time tracking me down - well, why didn't he try waiting at my house in Nulb or the inn in Hommlet? Would have saved him a lot of shoe leather.

Moderate code change, but better solution: when someone tries to give you stuff, bring up the "Trading" dialogue. Then I could choose what to drop to make room.

Huge code change: fix the whole "random encounter" event. This includes the "roads-are-for-wimps" effect, and the similarly annoying "oh-look-there's-some-lacedon, let's-all-sneak-up-and-stand-right-next-to-them-before-attacking" effect.

About the bag of holding...

Unfortunately, the bag of holding wasn't implemented, due to severe coding problems. The bag would not work right no matter how hard they worked on it with the amount of time they had to work on the game. The developer of the game, Troika Studios, said that they would try to add that in a future patch, so - fortunately - it should only be a matter of time.

Thanks - I can well believe that, and I didn't really expect there to be a bag, I just wanted to vent about that particular encounter.

Seriously, though, I've looked both here and on the Atari boards, and I'd much rather Troika just fixed the actual bugs before even thinking about new features. And I think the developers should be forcibly prevented from working on any other, more exciting projects until this one can pass a test set of my devising. ;)

Because I think this is a very impressive game engine, and with a bit more attention to detail in the scripting stage, it could be brilliant.

Troika - three words: "Spec", "Bugzilla", "Testing". I know it's boring, but it saves soooo much whinging from the customers...
