Hi i´m thinking about buying a new computer.
The one I have has 128 ram,Pentium III 547MHZ and has 9,3 gigabite hardrive and a unknown graphic card if I even have one.
And i want to buy a computer which has 512 ram, Dell 1.7 GHZ, 80 gigabite and a Geforce4 Ti4200 card and it costs 500 US dollar.

First question is it worth buying all I do is play games Counter Strike and Baldurs Gate and surf the internet and use direct connect for films.

Second Question what difference does the computers have will the new computer be faster at surfing or will baldurs gate have much better and smmother graphics. PLZ reply.

I'm sure that BG will run smoother. But if you want to play the newest games in a visible way, you should buy a newer (and indeed more expensive) video card, like the Radeon 9600PRO and the Geforce 5600 and above. At this moment, the Radeon 9800PRO has one of the best price/perfomance ratios; you'll sure be able to play the newest games on it.

If you plan to play a lot of games on you computer, then I would suggest getting an AMD Athlon64 based system. It is much better for gaming than the Pentium 4s. Plus you won't have to upgrade again in the future when Windows 64 comes out.
As for the Dell deal that was mentioned, you can find more powerful Dells for less money when Dell has one of their crazy deals. I recall seeing a Dell 2.4 ghz Pentium 4 for $349. Of course the graphics card is crappy, but you can drop about another $170 (outpost.com had a sale) for the Radeon 9800 Pro and you'll be good to go.
