Paladin problem: strength suddenly dropping to 1

Been plying a multiplayer game with a paladin. Twice the paladin's strength has dropped to 1 for no apparent reason. I have searched back through the journal and have not seen where any trap, spell or attack was made that would cause this. The only way we have been able to fix this is by reloading the game. The paladin has a +2 sword of chaos, but I have not seen anything that indicates this could be a side effect of weilding this weapon. Any ideas? Many thanks for any help.

I think it might be your game have you tried reinstalling BG2? If not you should try.

Look at the bright side: it might be fun to roleplay such a weak-arse paladin.
