Me again, Bastilla romance.....or not

Okay, so I'm a SW buff, I've seen the movies and read the books. Don't dress up as Chewbacca or anything for the premiers, but I like to think I know a lot about the Star Wars universe. So I kinda kicked myself recently when I got to the trigger to have some kind of romance with Bastilla (I play a male character). I did the Old Republic Jedi thing and steered away from emotional and romantic entanglements. After she gave me the computer female version of a cold shoulder and stopped talking to me I got to thinking, in this time the Jedi did have wives, husbands, and families. So uhm, did I miss anything by not doing this? Any problems or other missed storyline in the future?
Just curious as I'm really enjoying the storyline of the game so far.

It won't make a lot of difference, just less options to talk about as the storyline progresses.
Heh I didn't know jedis at that time had families

Eh, oh well. Guess I just get the cold shoulder in cyberspace too.
Yep, if you ever read any of the Star Wars comics ("graphic novels" is the new term I beleive) from a few years ago there's a whole series devoted to the Exar Kun war referred to in the game. Takes place 40 years before this game. One of the main Jedi, Nomi Sunrider, has a Jedi husband and they have a child together. Doesn't seem to be any big issue so I figured it was common.
Fast forward 3000 years and you have the historical reference point for another graphic novel series based on the Dark Forces and Jedi Knights games with Kyle Katarn. One of the main Jedi Knights fights a Sith who used to be his Jedi gf. Again from the way it's handled the relationship doesn't seem to be any big thing.
Now go forward about 1000 years and you have Episode's I, II, and III and Jedi are celibate non-romantic folk. Anakin and Padme are doing the naughty and breaking the rules. What changed in the 1000 years I have no clue.
Go on to Luke Skywalker's time and he got to start the order over however he wanted and married Jedi with kids is normal.
Well, there's your Star Wars history lesson. Really, I'm not a SW geek, I just like the story!

Speaking of roleplaying in KotOR, I found the game a bit too easy, so I decided to challenge myself by playing through with only one charachter. I still kicked the game's ass (PC version, Hard setting). Anyhoo, I decided to keep Bastilla and all the rest of them naked, and I'd take every opportunity to verbally abuse them and deny them opportunities to be with their contacts on various planets. Muahaha. Yes, I was Darkside, and yes, I loved to Force Choke.

I may be new to this site but i've been playing KOTOR since it first came out.
The only thing that you miss by not doing the romance side quest with Bastila is that you don't get to meet her crazy mother and find her fathers remains. Other than that if you fully do the romance quest she takes you off to the left front of the Ebon Hawk and kisses you. And then she gives you the cold shoulder because she thinks she is better than that since she is a jedi.
