I have a teifling rogue 5/sorcerer 2. I have shield and MM. They are greyed out. I take off armour et al. Still nothing.


Anyone know why?

Try resting if that dosent work it might be a bug related to using armor and taking it off.

Some armors restrict spellcasting, even though it doesn't say so in the description.

You should also check if you have enough charisma to cast sorcerer spells. You need 10 + level of the spell you want to cast. So if you want to cast Shield and Magic Missile, you need a CHA-score of at least 11. If you don't I think those spells will be greyed out.

Check you haven't cast a spell which restricts spell-casting. Also make sure you aren't in the Ice Temple in the anti-magic zone. Whenever I've seen spells greyed out is lacking in ability when some Iron Golem decided to drain my wisdom, and when I was (shape-)shifted into anything and forgot to shift back again before casting my spells.

How his is your Rogue/Sorcerer's Charisma? That ability is the casting stat of sorcerers.

Thats it. Forgot about that.... I'll just Dale keep his stats out.

Definitely do that. However, don't forget that later on, increasing Charisma via both every 4 levels AND items will make your character VERY powerful.
