Im starting BG2 yet again

D) and decided to try and play it with a sorcerer, she has the following stats:
Strength: 14
Dexterity: 17
Constitution: 17
Intelligence: 18
Wisdom: 13
Charisma: 9 (due to Ring of Human Influence being available very early on)
Was there any point at all for me to spend points on Wisdom? That's my main question, does my sorcerer (wizard) get any benefits from a higher Wisdom roll?

WIS will have a good effect for Lim.Wish and (IIRC) Wish. INT is actually essentially irrelevant for a Sorceror, so long as they can use wands, etc.
Sorceror = "TEH WIN11111"

Also...
With a wisdom of 15+, you get a bonus to your saving throws.

Max your stats
Why don't you just use the character creation cheat that allows you to have 18 in every stat.

Probably because he doesn't want to cheat and make a boring god-character from the game'e start.

or the fun in minimising char just because you can get the ring................not exactly roleplaying to the fullest

man you should put more points in wisdom and less in str.....and why you dont make a elf with 19 of dex and 17 since when you lose 1 point of cons in the spellhold it will be no problem.........and sorcerer rox best char EVER!!!!!
if you install tactics, acension, improved battles, refinements mods it will be a lot funnier.......

Ring of Charisma
I hate to say it, but I would have to concur that the use of codes robs any modicum of fun from BGII. I, personally, while seeing the benefit of wisdom, would advise you to instead give your sorcerer a higher Charisma score and use potions in those moments when other ability scores need to be higher (such as the use of a Wish spell). Also, you lose the opportunity to utilize two different rings designed for spellcasters at once.

Not in BG2. Charisma does nothing for a sorc.

You are right in saying that Charisma is the main attribute for a sorc, though. It was just left out in BG2. An extra thing for roleplayers to consider (while you won't recieve negative bonuses from it low, would it really hurt to roleplay it and have it high?).

So I take it that Int. is the attribute for 2nd ed. sorcerors to cast spells.
I kind of like 3rd ed.

Right. BG2 was 2nd edition, and sorcs used INT, same as mages.

except in bg2, INT means diddly squat to sorcerors. they need only 12 INT to cast spells from scrolls. that's it.
