The Shaving Poll

So, here I was shaving myself a few minutes ago, and I wondered:
"do other SYM members shave themselves? If so, how??"

So I ask you fellow members, to post your shaving preference. Do you shave with a razor (and foam), a shaver (you know, the electric stuff) or don't you shave at all? Perhaps you don't need to shave or you like having a Santa beard. To each his own I guess...

So my friends, post your shaving habits. What do you use and more importantly: why do you use it??
I’m quite curious, so that’s why I post this thread,

The ladies are allowed to post there preferences as well, of course, although I’m not sure I'm interested in that. Well, maybe a little :p

Edit: Bloody! Something went horribly wrong here, and now I've got some sort of white bar in my screen!

I use an electic shaver when I'm at my parents house and feeling lazy. Otherwise I use a razor as I still have pretty soft facial hair and hence a shaver does not cut good enough, and it feels nicer too :)

Well - normally I shave each day.
Every second day I use an electric shaver and the inbetween I use Gilette March 3 or something or another. It was cheap when I bought it, so that is why I use it. Have always used Gilette (of various marks during the times) - those disposable razors one can buy are to lousy and cuts uneven.

But these days I only shave occasionally, or rather about once a week - when my beard gets to long and it starts itching.

I'll agree with Xandax that disposable razors are lousy, and I'll add that they end up costing you more in the long run, because you have to keep throwing them away.

I have a strong beard for my age, and I shave every two days with a Gilette Mach Turbo (or something like that) which has 3 razor blades to it (shaves really smoothly)...though I really should shave every day. As I'm naturally a lazy guy, I'll sometimes skip shaving in the morning, let my beard grow and use the electronic shaver to keep it well trimmed.

However, for shaving entirely, the razorblades are much better than the machine.

I have not much of an strong beard, or facial hair, as you wish. I look like a 4 years youger boy - I'm 23 - and shaving every three days is enough for me.

My ritual is:

Wash my face with hydratation soap - then use foam to do not hurt the skin, then mach 3 gillete slow and carefully. In the end, I use an after-shave lotion, either from Nivea, Gillette or Bozzano.

But since I'm kinda allergic to parfum, I avoid after shave when I can...

Well, I just shaved myself, but I also cut myself.
So now it's bleeding like a, err... I'm not sure what bleeds a lot, but you get the picture.

That's one of the drawbacks from shaving with a razor. I always seem to cut myself…

I used to do that. But shaving always requires foam... soap foam or bought special foam help a lot. And man, patience. I know shaving is boooring as hell, but man, its like brushing your teeth. Gotta have patience and wait for best results.

I grab a mink as it passes by our tent, and hold it to my face. Makes the textures nice and smooth. :)

...On a slightly more relevant note, I use a simple razor (not electric), and no foam, every second day. My hair is stiff and cuts easily. I've also had a beard and moustache for the last 24 years, so there's really not that much to trim--sections of my cheeks and my neck; that's about it. I keep my beard relatively short. When it grows thick, I use an electric razor to cut it back, usually once every 2-3 weeks.

Anybody who wants to see a picture of it can look in that thread where we post pictures of ourselves, to the amazement of everybody else.

I use an electric razor, simply because its easier then a normal razor. It doesn't give as close a shave, but I don't really mind much. I shave whenever I feel like it, really. :D Though, I am a normal victim of the 5 o'clock shadow...so, whenever I start working after school, I'll need to shave everyday.

I also have facial hair on my chin that I don't cut, so an electric razor makes it easy.

I try my best to go as long as possible without shaving. Usually I can make it a week before the mess needs fixing, (note if the job I have applied for comes along this will have to change)

(1) Hack off the most with a electric trimmer.
(2) Wash face with Ivory soap (hot water)
(3) Lather with shaving cream, going in the opposite direction of hair growth (against the grain)
(4) Using Mach 3 razor go in the direction of hair growth (with the grain) while trying to not go over the same spot of skin twice (razor burn)
(5) Wash face again with Ivory soap (cold water) no after shave.

I wish I had a beard to shave. :( (I'm a female, and not one of those special bearded-ladies. ;) )

I think most that have to shave - wish they didn't have to. :D

Well, first I start with the Happy Trail... Er? What? Oh, you mean facial hair... :D :o

I'm lazy, and somehow, that makes me look good. I've been told that I look great with the day old growth, so, like any good male, I do what the women tell me to. I'll shave it every couple days or so, and with a Gilette Mach 3, using shaving gel (not cream. dries my face out too much), followed by some Swiss Army after shave, or if that isn't around, Captain Morgan's Original Spiced Rum. Either way, I smell good :D

Like a certain Wanker(ly) once did, I too have shaved my chest once... Not a process I recommend unless you intend to keep it up... The horrible, horrible evil that ensued from that... *shudder*

Well, you can shave your legs. I know it's not nearly as good, but it's still something. ;)

I shave everyday under the shower (no foam) or later at night with an electricshaver while reading the paper.

I to use the mach3 (that seems to be very popular here :D )

Well, I do, but... You know. It gets old ripping the skin off my knees every day. I want scruff on my face, man. :p

Alright, I wanna contribute to this thread. I shave with a razor in the shower and special shave-gel to reduce the risk of cuts. :D It also moisturizes all at the same time!

EDIT: I just went and checked and my razor is Gillette, but for women! Venus. It has these little moisturizer thingies on it. Oooo... :p

Shaving with soap hurts like crap, guys. Don't do it.

Actually - I bought Gillette very early in my shaving era, because thoese disposable razors sucked to much and I cut myself often. Then I saw a gillette - dunno what mark it was back then - prior to the march 3 (Sensor or something) and I got it cheap on sale.
After that I've only upgraded to the march 3, because of the trible blade thingy (which Wilson I belive are also making now).
It has nothing to do with advetiesment.

If anything I stay away from products with bad advetisments - like I would never buy that "March 3 turbo fast forward thingy" they advetise - trying to get to look like a ferrari car
