converting to pc, mod questions.

hi, the title pretty much gives it away, but i have a few questions about mods. I am being sent off to school, and unfortunatley my beautiful xbox is being left behind (like a month before fable comes out. after waiting 2 years, this disguists me) with my siblings. I will however havea laptop for school purposes, and i am sure it will run Morrowind. Im not so convinced, however, that it will run a huge number of mods. what i would like to know is, how much space would somethign like 'max's complete morrowind' (which if the computer can handle it sounds like a defenite must, right?) take up, and does a computer crash if to many mods are used simoltaneously? also your opiniond on the best mods and where to dind them woudl be good (yes i have seen the thread up top, but they didnt tell me where to go to look them up...) so if you could help thats great!

Best place to look for mods is
Morrowind Summit. Most of the ones I've mentinoned can be found there, and it supports user comments--some of which are pure flames from idjits

though others are quite good. The other frequently updated mod site is
Euro-RPG. They host a great deal of garbage, however--literally, anything that's sent in--and their search facility is poor.
Unforgotten Realms is quite good, too, though it doesn't have many files on hand.
Gamers Roam has some excellent (and some poor) reviews on its site, as well as a fine selection of mods, but it doesn't update very quickly.
Space considerations? CM is about 14 MB, zipped. Most mods are smaller. I wouldn't worry too much about space. Your main concern should be memory. I would suggest at least 512 MB RAM. Avoid the visual and audio enhancing mods, and you'll do fine.

yep, thanks. im looking at this one called 'tamriel rebuilt' and i wondered what you, seemingly a veteran in mods, thought of it?

I've not used it. At the moment, it looks like the first step in a development which will include major quests, and it's been the subject of many threads up on the Elder Scrolls mod site. Normally, I don't load cities that are without quests, so I prefer the new city mods of Havish, Veldion and Haldenshore, in that regard.

I can really, strongly recommend Haldenshore and Havish, in particular, as I mentioned in the sticky thread about mods. Haldenshore is a blast, mainly for thieves, while Havish is pretty much across the board. Both are very well designed, with a lot of individual character.

I am sure i could find it already posted in another forum somewhere, but i am lazy and this is easier.
Tamriel rebuild is not completed? do you know whether or not it will be released as each section is done? or will it be release in bulk when the entire continent is done?
i will look into the cities Havish, Veldion and Haldenshore... im just looking for anythign to add spice to morrowind, it doesnt matter if its not highly recomended or not. anything thats just fun. thansk!

I'm a bit confused, here. Did you download Tamriel Rebuilt? Because it's not up on Morrowind Summit, and the
TR website seems to indicate they have no playable downloads at all. But Morrowind Summit does have Tel Uvrith Rebuilt, which refers in its readme to Tamriel Rebuilt, and includes the following comment: "Sadly, no quests, yet. Maybe in a later update I can add quests to found the town, and some little quests involving conflicts between House Telvanni, and the local Indorils."

no... in Morrowind Summit they have a link off of the home page to 'Tamriel Rebuilt' and I read all about that, and the project sounded awesome, especially as the thing I wanted most from morrowind was to see more of it. I assumed that it was at least partially done... but now I see I was wrong, sorry for the confusion, but now I will look into Tel Uvirith Rebuilt...

Tamriel Rebuilt is one of the celebrated long-running no-shows among mods. Too many people, too huge a project (literally everything in Morrowind redone). Will it ever be finished? Frankly, I don't thiink so. But it continues to attract coders who work on it sporadically.

Better Heads and
Better Bodies
they dont take up too much ram and they make the game a billion times better. If i could only play with 2 mods those would be the 2.

fable... thats really to bad that you think it wont be finished... i was looking forward to that, lol. Well hopefully elder scrolls 4 will have the whole of tamriel (and beyond

so better heads and bodies, complete morrowind, the cloaks mod, abu's retreat, LGNPC... any other outstanding mods i need to get my hands on?

Look for ease-of-use mods. I posted a few in the mods thread:the Dwemer Bio-Monitor, Herbalism Lite, Enchanted Icon Selection, Journal Enhanced, Writing Enhanced, Psorticon, and Book Rotate.
Dracandros' Voice, Give Your Orders: These complement one another, and give you extra (and distinctive) benefits when you rise to the top of one of the factions or Houses.
SuperAdventurers, Morrowind Advanced: Makes the game more challenging. Opponents use the magicka they all have available. New monsters. More money for merchants, but training is more expensive.
Magical Trinkets of Tamriel: Adds a host of new magical items (emblems, foci, sigils, unfinished rings, ioun stones, charms, mana bolts, sarah stones, shard weapons, linked items, scepters) to the game, each with its own properties.

Sorry for interruption, but it's 1.4 MBs zipped, 6 unzipped.
