How a L1 charachter can kill Drizzt. *Spoiler*

A level one charachter who can wield any kind of bow can kill Drizzt, using the following four items.

*Boots of Speed
*Potion of Haste
*Arrows of Detonation
*Bow

Use the first two to stay out of Drizzt's range. Use the latter two to kill him. It took me exactly 20 arrows, which are sold in Sorcerous Sundries in Baldur's Gate. The arrows appear to give a +20 THAC0 bonus, in addition to casting Fireball upon impact.

That's a pretty solid tactic. Of course, you can't get most of those items at lvl 1. :)

Well - seeing as you can't even get into Baldurs Gate city before late in the game - I think the title is somewhat false :D

As Coot says none of that stuff is availble (well -except the potion of haste) to level 1 characters.

Well, great tactic and all. But why go to that much trouble, all you have to do is walk in the little island, drop off a good character, then go to beregost, get that swine bard, whatever his name is. Then sacrifice him, and arrow the hell out of Drizzt'y..

Tactic that will work on lvl 1.
Have a character with tons and tons of arrows stand on the small island above drizzt.
Then have another character attack him, and lure him to the island.
Drizzt should just be in range of the archer, and just stand there taking arrows.

I can't remember... is Drizzt vulnerable to normal (1d6+0)arrows?

He can only be hurt (well atleast with normal arrows) when you get a critical hit.. silly guy, if he had a helmet he would be invunerable!!

If I remember he had around 60-80 HP, I think it was like 65-68, but it might be 80's, good luck killing him, his wepeons are very nice! I wish I had TuTu to use them both!

If you have a decent thief you can steal his scimitars :D

Another thing you could try would be to conjure lots of monster soummonings level 3 and keep making them attack Drizzt. This works best with a high level mage etc level 8 or 9 because for monster soummoning you throw at drizzt he loses around 6-12hp.

I hate him and kill him almost always... He does have a helmet but criticals hit still but don't do double damage. His ac is below -10(IIRC) so that's why it is hard to hit him. And that island tactic won't work if your path finding is high enough... found that out the hard way. Confrontation ended in chunky party. :D :D

LOL, the (well deserved) revenge of Drizzt. :D

revenge

Yes, probably well earned, i'll give him that. :) He is so cheesed up character in bg1 and that is the smaller part of my hate for him. Larger comes from books: No matter if you throw thousands gnolls or whatever on him, he kills everyone of them. Maybe gets a scratch or two. And when he finally died, he didn't stay dead. Oh no, he came back.
Dunno, maybe its not the character that I hate. Its Salvatore and his way to write. I mean what's the point of reading when you know he'll survive and don't get a scratch? I think it keeps tension up better if main character(s) can die, IMHO. Whaddya think?
Ok, made some ranting... I'll be quiet now. :D

Those are good reasons for hate. Personaly, I just hate him because he is stronger than me, also, the fact (this being the main reason) that he is so damn righteous, he is a drow for fu*ks sake, he should be a complete wan*er, he should slaughter everyone. Man, if only there were more characters like Edwin, the complete bast*rds!

I think once I've done BG1-2 and gotten myself the super metal armour that I want I'm gonna do the Baldurs Gate series as a complete wanker, heads will roll!

Actually I think he is ***hole. He should be good and in that situation where you meet him, you should be able to say I cannot/want to help you. You are either wounded or doesn't you have right to choose not to meddle in that. But if you say so he goes: Oh?! Better Help me or I'll hack you to pieces. Isn't that arrogant and more close to chaotic neutral than chaotic good?

I guess Black Isle made a hash of his personality, if you read the books Drizz't is AWESOME.... Force of good, goody two-shoes, defend the right, all that fufu.
You should be ashamed that you would so cold-bloodily plot his murder to gain those AWESOME scimitars (which in BG2 are not that awesome and by ToB are downright pitiful >.>)

When did a +5 wepeon become pitifull?

the special armour class increasing one is very good. One of the best wepeons in the game.

They are both +3, but one is calculated as +5 on what to hit (that doesnt matter in BG1 but it does in BG2)
You can only pickpocket the normal +3 one.

Yeah I know, but its still a +3, and I think thats (unless my memory fails me) the best you get in BG (unless its like +5 giant killing, etc) but really, the wepeon kicks ass!

Ar does count in BG1, having -7 or something is a great aid, and the sword helps with that, I collected around 500 firearrows in Firewine with the help of super low AR.

Although only the straight frostband can be stolen, it still rocks. But still, just kill the idiot.
