Virgil is stuck in a constant battle mode and he can do nothing at all and this can be very frustrating.
How do I get him out of this because he can be a bit of a help in the game.

I guess the question is, do you know why he's stuck that way? Did you accidentally hit him? Or is there something in the frame of view that's recognized by the game as an enemy, no matter how harmless?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I got into a battle with the Molchean Hand, Now he just stands there in a constant attack position, but there are no enemies around and I killed the ones that did attack me.
Still he is stuck and it would help if I could get him back.

I have had similar situations and I think I just ran around the area until the NPC finally calmed down. You might try right-clicking on Virgil's portrait and try one of the commands available, such as 'walk'. I've never had this happen in a random encounter but I suppose you can't leave the screen or you might lose Virgil. You might try saving and then leaving the are to see if Virgil is still with you and returned to normal.

Thanks, but I have beent there and done all of that.
Current Situation:
Killed enemies and then went back to Shrouded Hills as well as Kree, but he was still in combat mode and will not walk or do anything at all. I think that I might just restart, I was not very far.
Anyway, thanks for the assitance in any case.

Virgle Stuck
I've had virgle get stuck many times. This is what I do.
Press F5 to end all attack modes.
Go to world display and draw a path anywhere: one inch or 2.5 cm. Click on the activation key. When you've stopped Virgle should be with you. The same recouvery can happen just by running across the landscape.
I suggest you learn the NPC control keys F1-F5 they can be a help in many situations.
