My Firemage (spoilers)

Well I've settled on a Firemage, since that seems to be the general concensus on what's the best, and so far I'm finding it quite fun. Moreso than the other characters I've started at least. Just for the sake of getting input I'll put up my stats, skills, and equipment to see what you all have to say about my choices as of level 6.All numbers are after traits and item upgrades.

Sylvant: Firey Ancestry
Stats: str 4, per 10, end 4, cha 10, int 10, agi 5, luc 4
Traits: Skilled and Gifted
Tag skills: Diplomacy, Thought: Fire, Tribal: protective
Perks: Swift Learner, Mark of Fire
Some Skills: Fire 80, Protective 50, Diplomacy 80, Lockpick 35, Find 29
Equipment: Plate Mail, Med. Shield, Scimitar of Revealing, Gauntlets of Hellfire, 2 Rings of Protection +4

Well if anybody's got anything to say as to how my character's evolving I'd like to hear it. I do have a question. How do characters with low lockpick scores handle sections of the game where it's highly beneficial to be able to unlock a certain door or chest. The example I'm thinking of is getting through the Inquisition chambers. I've entered through the Inquisition Exterior, but can't unlock the second cell door. I wish you could just break the door down like in other games.

There is a goblin in the woods somewhere and he will give you a band that increases fire damage you could swap that out for one of the rings, other then that its going great.

Skip things that need lockpicking i know for a die hard rpg person its hard to miss things i did and it didnt really hurt me much, besides wanting to see what i had actualy missed.

I see what you mean, but I've been putting spare points into lockpick because I hate missing things. For example there's this one chest in the secret cave when doing Cortes treasure cave I remember from my other game that no matter how many skill enhancing stuff I couldn't open the chest. there's gotta be something good in there, and I don't wanna miss it. What I've been doing is clearing out the woods as much as possible and when I get to a place that's impassible I go into Barcelona(only happened once) to finish my level up. I'll then go back into the woods. Lather, rinse, repeat. Any tips on perks to take? And I think I know what goblin you're talking about and I think that area is next on my list of places to visit.

Areas in specific are just blank to me right now i forgot most of the game after i finished it, but yes the goblin is a very very usefull thing to kill because IIRC the ring gives you a 10% increase to fire spell damage.

Perks there are 3 that you need to take, others are free choice the three are

Mark of fire, Pyromaniac ( i think not sure, it dose increase fire damage as far as i know ) and the perk the lowers the cost of casting thaught magic, which is by far the most usefull perk in the game for you.

Problem with lockpick is, wasted skills, take into consideration that past a certan point skills take 3 skill points to increase by 1, you will spend a lot of levels getting max 5 points in a certan skill, belive me its not worth wasting skill point over, i know i like to see the games as a whole myself i love doing all possibile quests but sadly Lionheart isnt balanced well enough to allow that, because theres maybe 3 combinations of characters that can even beat the game, belive me sacrificing lockpick is bad but its neccesary.

I'm gonna asume those three possible character combinations are Mage, Thief, and Fighter. If those aren't them, please lemme know. Also the vendor in the crossroads has a small shield of the firedrake giving a small bonus to fire damage and resistence I think 5% and 10% respectively, is it worth buying if he still has it when I go back?

Yes the shield is worth buying, you find better ones but their not hugely expensive, i had one as well, it seems to be a random merchant item, the %s are random and they get better later on.

Im 90% sure a melle fighter is impossibile or very VERY hard to finish the game with, even if you do use diplomacy, so technicaly all i can see as beeing viable builds to finish the game with are a firemage ( other elements dont get enough +% damage to be effective, but electrical is also very powerful ) or a thief using bows and crossbows and no magic which is very hard again.

The game can only be finished with a ranged character i think because melle is just too stat based, because you cant sacrifice inteligence for stats and you need constitution/strenght/agility max.

Well I'm now level 8 on the verge of level 9. I think I'm gonna tackle the sewers next being as I need a certain piece of red ore for Eduardo. Now as to what my character looks like now. All skills are still with my present equip configuration which includes the Everlasting not the Scimitar of Revealing.

Some Skills: Fire 112, Protective 50, Diplomacy 80, Lockpick 35, Find 17
Equipment: Plate Mail, Med. Shield+Scimitar of Revealing/the Everlasting, Gauntlets of Hellfire, RoP+4 and the Snake, Ring of Fiery Death, Amulet of the Grand Inquisitor, Boots of Load Bearing, Speed, and Spirit Regeneration, and the Helm of the Eagle and the Falcon

I had to kill the bounty hunters for the Everlasting because it's such a cool weapon and I just couldn't afford it at the time. I did however waste most of my cache of healing potions I'd been saving up for the Goblin Khan. Oh well, I'll replenish my stock again before I head out that way. The Wererat daeva fell on the first try, but my problem with the Khan is that as I'm slaughtering the archers and shaman he pummels me and that's the end of that.

Thanks, I guess the spoilers tag wasn't really necessary when I started the thread, but now it kinda needs one.

My character is a lvl 17 feralkin warrior. So no one thinks you can finish the game with a warror? That kind of sucks.I guess i'll just play with him and see what happens.I never get options when i talk to an npc.Its just either leave of kill them. When i went to get the gem off the inq.guy for da vinci all i got was leave or kill everyone. So now the town has no guards at all.Has anyone ever finished the game with a warrior?

Im not saying its impossibile, but its not easy, and this game isnt easy to start with, the balance issues are most troubleing, and melle characters took a huge kick in the back, belive me some of the Devas will be next to impossibile unless your a good 6 or 7 levels higher then a mage character, ranged might be possibile i never tried it honestly, but most people i talked to will agree the end is almost impossibile for melle, and the end boss most likely is, but its worth a try i never could find the patiance to though.

The goblin Khan usualy goes down at about level 10 or so, i personaly went to montserat first finished that and then came back to kill him and do some missed quests.

Well I guess I'll have to put a level or two's worth of skill points into electrical before I can tae on those trolls huh? Is there another option?

I ran throught the level didnt get much but i didnt waste any points on other magics, the person who initialy wrote a guide for this build did say he advised puting a bit into electrical, but i finished it just fine without, true i did miss some things and some areas where hard, but i was glad to finish it.

Well I've beaten the Khan done Cortes quest, and I'm trying to figure out how to destroy those other two crosses in the inquisition chambers. I've destroyed the one that's behind the bars, but the others don't wanna go down. I'm asuming the guy I have to give the mysterious potion to for Bartolome is back there somewhere. I freed anyone else I could. I also have to go back and try to unlock that secret door in the Grand Inquisitor's chambers again. I'm wondering myself where the weilders are, and how I go about joining them. I've done the first two quests for the beggars, but since I can't really clear out the trolls that's shot. I'm also not too sure about how I feel being associated with them. The only weilders I've found were in the inquisition chambers(freed him) and Relican in the slave pits exterior, and he wants to be left alone. That's one thing I need some help with. The other thing is deciding between some equipment. Here are my dilemmas:

Hauberk Mail of Dragon Scales: 6% fire res. 10% of deamage delt to you is reverted to him who delat it
Hauber Mail of Protection: +11
Scale Mail

Med Shield: +8 fire, poison res. +2 AC
Med shield: +50 mana capacity

Amulet: +8 AC
Amulet of the Grand Inquisitor: +10 speach, +2 AC, +1 heal rate

I just need to choose between those. I sold the Everlasting. And now I'm using that Scepter from the inquisition chanbers and the scimitar of revealing. I'm level 12 and pretty much wondering where to go next. There's a few doors I wanna try opening again, but otherwise I dunno where to go from here. I did however notice the inquisitor wandering around looking for some lost street that the weilders use but I can't find it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Well i just hit lvl 20 getting the lance and the mobs in that crypt are tough. At least they were for my feralkin warrior. You will get hit with alot of cold and electrical damage. So i would make sure anything you wear offers some protection in those area's.I had to leave and get some scrolls and potions to top off my protection.Thank god i just bought that 40ac armor before i went down there.I lasted a hell of alot longer with it.

The one mob i was scared of at the end turned out to be a wimp for me.Its the groups that kill you.I'm getting better at pulling one at a time though.I use 1h swords and shields.I love the sword you get for becoming a favored one when you do that quest. And i just notice that as i'm putting more points in it when i lvl,all my swords are doing more damage. That sword does 4-15 + 8 in damage now.

Well I've got a new piece of equipment I've gotta choose from.

Med Shield: +2 Cha, +5 Poison and Fire resistance

I'm about to set out for Montserrat and I'm level 13. Stats have gone up to 4, 11, 5, 10, 12, 5, 4. My fire damage with add-ons of course is 198%. I've joined the weilders and the Order of Saladin. And my main skills are Fire 165, protective 60, and diplomacy 85. Before I head out though I'm gonna go check out the Obelisk in Rio Ebro. I still wanna get some feedback on my equipment dilemmas before I head out so if you could check back to that post and give me some input I'd greatly appreciate it.

Yea i've been hearing many say its hard to finish the game as a melee fighter... but its kinda fun to use melee, so i'll just try, didnt experience any tough situations or problems so far so i guess it'll do.

Haha, if you guys use potions on a fighter as much as you do on a mage, i think you'll find it alot easier.
