Yes fighter/thief.
I did it, and it worked realy great!
I dont think mages are powefull in BG1, so a no point in playing one of them.

I made a thread about my solo experience, i can give you a link if you want

You can call it cheese if you want.
But 2 backstabs with the staff of striking where enough!

Just collect loads of potions of invis and buy the ring of invis (if playing totsc) and most "difficult" battles should be easy as pie :) Don't forget to take out mages, clerics and archers first, with boots of speed you can always outrun the fighters.

Did you played without the exp cap remover?
What weapon were you using?
What armor?
What everyothers items did you used?

No need for xp cap remover, only patience.

Fighter Thief:

I used the dagger of venom from Thunderhammer, and his shadow armor. Boots of speed in the end, boots of stealth in the beggining. Save potions of invisibility, find the ring of invisibility, and have a good bow and longsword ready.

Some say it is possible to solo a fighter, but IMO it is way too "reload" and "reload" stuff.

Nice story :) although it didn't really get far... Nevertheless, i'm inspired by your try, perhaps i'll solo with a fighter/thief sometimes too. Or with an assasin, but i don't know if Tutu is very stable... It seems to work with one guy and another guy is screaming that it's the most buggy mod ever made.

I have solo'd with a Fighter/Druid, which seemed to work out well. My brother has solo'd through with both a fighter and a mage on core rules.

I've gone solo through BG1 once, and I used a Specialist Mage, although I honestly cannot remember what school. I thought it was a lot of fun, definitly a lot less frustrating then going solo through BG2. And don't even get me started on putting a solo mage through ToB

Multiclasses characters gain half the HP they'd normally gain. And regarding your Con of 18, you'll have a +2 modifier fo the thief class and a +4 modifier for the fighter class. One of my more successful solos was a F/T and I'd highly recommend it for a first time soloer. Even though some will say it's not necessary I'd say grab a cap remover and a rules expansion for higher levels, because it does take some of the fun out of the game when you realize you've been playing for a few hours and gaining no experience.

so when i lvl in fighter i can have up to 9 more Hps and when in thief i get 5 more isnt it?
Is there a way to always have maximum rolls(difficulty,etc..)?
I just leveled up doing Friendly Arm Inn quests and need help about that soon!

I think one of the difficulty settings will give you max HP's per level up. Not sure which one though.

I downloaded a mod that gives you full hp when leveling

I'm almost positive it can be done via difficulty settings.

100% right :)
Difficulties: Easy-Normal-Core-Hard-Insane
...
Normal: Monsters do 75% damage, spells are learned automatically, HP rolls are max.
...

So put the difficulty on easy or normal when making your character and on level-ups and you should get max hp.
