Decided to have another run through. While this info may exist, I was not able to search it up. So, .. I want a decent thief and don't want Jan. I want to dual Edwin to thief but I need a 17 in Dex to do this (he is a 10) I think? My Q, if I equip him with Gaunlets of Dex to artificially boost him to 18, can I then dual? Ta much..

One word: bummer.
Appreciate the feedback, it will save me lugging him around with the group early on and then discovering the hard way he can't be dualed to Thief.

Well..

You can easily tweak his stats - and class(es) for that matter - in Shadowkeeper if you like - I made him a half elven dual class Kensai/Mage gor this gothrough ;)

@Nephtu
You know, that had occurred to me but as a Maccie I have not been able to get Shadowkeeper to run in OSX. So have not been able to edit anything in BG2/ToB. (Actually, I had deleted old SoA saved games and lost my orginal PC and STUFF he had, tried to start ToB with a fresh version of the PC but in the absence of his tweaked/perfected loot and goodies, was much displeased. Hence the re-run through SoA...)

Anyone got a Mac friendly (OSX compatible) Shadowkeeper download site???

as a collary to that: do you know how many of the mods work with OSX? I've tried a few, which seemed to be ok, but the Balderdash bugfix pack seems to be PC only...

Actually, those are three words. :p

I'm pretty sure it's two words, because even not contracted "you cannot" is still two words. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

You're not right, because Cannot is Can + Not, 2 words.

Well, lets say : 2.5 words :D

Now back to the threat subject...

it's a compound word and therefore it's two.

why would you want to dual class edwin? he's the best mage in the game!

@Thrain
2 it is indeed

Edwin - IMO I need a decent Th that stays constant within the group, given what happens throught the game. Choices are limited (why exactly did they dual imoen to T/M anyway - that does not logically follow from BG1). Anyway, I don't like Jan and my PC is a gnome F/M to boot. Nalia is wrecked, Yoshi has his faults. So then the need to dual someone else (restricted to human) and therein lies the problem of insufficient Dex in the candidates.

Never really been fond of Edwin and so thought the dualing would endear him to me.

how can you not be fond of edwin? he's the one dimensional bad guy who never gets it right. i agree that Nalia's stats are fubar but with the thievery rings, it isn't a problem

Actually I did buff Nalia last time with rings, gauntlets etc. Just wasn't satisfying since she didn't get any better at backstabbing, which proved a pain later in the game.

Well... nalia is a "Mage that can use Thieves Equipement" more than a "Thief with Magic"

this is true.

if you want a mage that can backstab then jan is the only way to go. the mislead spell is great for this
