Talos Cult Quest

So, I got locked out of the Thieves Guild as per my other thread and now I'm having problems with this. Even though I have been given orders to kill the two leaders of the cult, I get a bounty on my head. Now, I guess I could join the Morag Tong and get an extra writ, but I'm not in that as of now. Does anyone know how I can finish this quest without getting a bounty?

I'm afraid I missed your other thread. So could you summarize what you mean by getting locked out of the Thieves Guild? Who kicked you out, and why?

I had the exact same problem. You get the order to kill the cultist, go into the cellar, and he immediately attacks. If you kill him you get a death bounty and all the other guards in the vicinity attack, as well.
Even if you don't kill any of them you can't end the quest. All Darius has to say is "Sorry, but I can't talk to you. You're a wanted man." after you've just done his bidding.
If you're on the PC you can use the "sethealth 0" cheat to kill the cultist minus the bounty. The patch didn't fix the game for me, so this is what I had to resort to.

I got Sottilde to give me the code book. Now the Thieves Guild won't let me join.

Is this the imperial legion quest where you have to find the cult members in the Guard? The other guards should've told you to talk to a guy named Oritius Maro. It may take some pursuasion and/or bribes (if you're an Imperial, Voice of the Emperor seems to work too), but if his disposition is high enough he'll give you the key to the Talos cult, and so you don't have to pick the lock to the cellar. Once there, you should see a small chest behind Arius Rulician, with a lock level of about 5. Open this chest to find the slip of paper needed to incriminate the Talos Cult. At this point, Arius should attack you. As soon as he strikes you it's safe to kill him. He should NOT attack you as soon as you enter the cellar, if that's the case it may be because you never talked to Oritius and picked to lock for entry. As far as I know if you did it the "right" way you should even be able to chat with Arius about the Talos cult, and this makes sense since you're a de-facto "member".

Nonono. I got Maro to let me in, then I got the note without being seen. No problems so far, everybody loves me. Then I go to Darius and show him the note. Then he gives me the order to kill the cultists. When I enter the barracks, Maro attacks me. If I fight back then it get reported as a crime and all the guards come after me.

Just kill them (as you explained above) then go out to a guard and pay your bounty, it will cost a bit but at least you get past this problem.

Bit of a problem to pay the gurds if they are busy attacking me. Besides. I shouldn't have to pay anyone. I was give an order.

you don't show Darius the note BEFORE you kill them! Don't "secretly" take the note from the chest, do it right in front of Arius. This will make Arius attack you. Since you're in a secluded area nobody will help him and you can take him out. Then, as you leave the cellar, Maro will attack you. Take him out too. THEN talk to Darius. He will thank you for killing them and will finish the quest for you. If you took the note in the open and Arius did NOT attack then I am surprised because he's supposed to.

I'm WAAAYYYY past this part and playing BloodMoon. But, my killing of these Talos Cult guys seems to have adversely affected one of my quests in BLOODMOON.
Here's the scoop:
I've been asked to find out why 'morale is low' at the Fort. However, none of the guards want to talk to me.
Finally, someone told me that I've been EXPELLED from the Imperial Guild and need to go to Darius at Gnisis to make amends.
Well, I've made the trip to Gnisis and, when I try to talk to Darius, he tells me I'm out of uniform and to talk to him when I'm serious.
I've gone all over Gnisis and gathered up several Imperial uniform items: Imperial Helm;Imperial Shield; Imperial Right and Left Pauldron; Imperial Broadsword; Imperial Greaves, and Imperial Boots.
BUT, according to Darius, I'm STILL 'out of uniform'. So, the question now is: what all does it take to be 'in uniform'?
Reading this discussion at least has informed me as to why I was expelled in the first place. I, too, picked the lock to the secret hiding place of the Talos Cult, got attacked and had to leave town by skin of my teeth.
So, in some ways, I'm surprised I was even able to return to town without facing some fights.
The BIGGER question now is: How do I complete the 'low morale' quest in Bloodmoon?

First, the proper Cuirass is only one thing what's really needed.
Second, have you done or at least got Darius Talos Cult quest in Gnisis? It'd give you legal reason to go to that area in Darius Fort. Now, if you'd caught on thievery(i'd advise always to sneak doing it in populated places) or attacking Legionare you're expelled, of course.

Yes, Darius asked me to find out about the secret cult (Talos Cult) and I discovered that guy down in that secret area. As soon as I entered there, he attacked me. But, a bounty was immediately placed on my head and I had to escape town.
I've since stayed away from the Imperials and completed Morrowind....then Tribunal....and am now in Bloodmoon.
I've also discovered that the priest is the 'key' to completing the 'morale is low' in Bloodmoon.

You should first speak with people in Baracs to get a lead and find somebody, who would recomend you. Now it might be too late for the standard way - or you may at least have need for Calm Humanoid and probably also for Charm. However, sneaking also could help perhaps, since the evidence you should bring to Darius is, IIRC, either on the altar or in that small chest there.

Thanks. For now, I've gone back to Fort Frostmoth and resolved the 'morale is low' situation. I found out how to do that.

Try the 'Unofficial Morrowind Patch'
No can do, they attack me on sight. But even though I was the one attacked, I still get a bounty and all the other guards come afer me.
Ran into this problem as well. Luckily I had a save game from before I stole the note from the little chest. I Installed the Unofficial Morrowind Patch, started with this game and I didn't encounter the problem again. I only had to kill the two cultist. I could do it in front of any other person in the barracks, they wouldn't come at me and I never got a bounty.
