BG-TSC-Additional Object Cheat Issue-No Talk Prompt

I have had no success with the Additional Object cheat from gamespy, as I am not able to get the talk prompt to work and therefore cannot type in the proper codes. Do you have to be playing a multi-player game in order to use the CTRL-TAB... I am playing a single player game...Any thoughts?
Did creator's patches on their website prevent this...?

Thanks for the note. So far, both the SPACE bar and CTRL+SPACE only pause the game. I am unable to get the talk prompt or type in anything. Am I thumbing the keys or am I missing something?

you must first enable cheats
This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Using a text editor, edit the "Baldur.ini" file in the game directory. Add the line "Cheats=1" under the "[Game Options]" heading. Then, begin a game and press [Ctrl] + [Tab] to display the console window
