Hello,I'm rather new to the Realms and have a question about second edtion magic.I was in another site when somebody mentioned 10th level and higher magic. They also made a commet about the game designers turning 10th and 11th level magic into epic spells.I got curious, but was unable to find any other mention of it.I'm pretty sure that its 2nd edtion rules and was hoping one of you could clear it up for me.Thanks in advance.

hmm, I'm not sure.
As far as I knew there are no spells above 9th level. Perhaps they are made by hobbiests? Also, they could be taken from the epic level handbook, but I don't have that book.

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure there was 10th and higher level magic in the realms.Like I said it may have been edited out for 3rd edtion.I've done a bit more research and have seen a couple other mentions of it on other sites.I need to know, did you play second edtion dnd/forgotten realms. If not i'll need somebody who has. Thanks anyway.

There's epic spells in 3rd Edition too. They are indeed in the epic level handbook.
As for 2nd Edition...well I played Baldur's Gate II, does that count?

In Throne of Bhaal they had some epic level spells that they lumped into the 9th level circle of spells.

To my knowledge there are no spells higher than 9th level in 2nd edition. 3ed has Epic levels, that would be any character that reaches 21 level and higher. There are epic level spells that go along with that, but they aren't catagorized as 10th 11th and so on (I don't think anyway)
Sorry bro, that's all I got.

spells above 9th level
in some of the class expansion books there were suggestions for higher level spells as well as rules for making them Things like Mass Succor and the like. Using the DMG you can make any level spell repectively the thing is can you weild the power in a mortal body? Probably not, in which case you have crossed the threshhold to demi-god if not god. There rules about that as well, and the powers associated with it. Anyone with enough worshipers can become a god and wield godlike powers and spells, then you switch to a whole new playing field with new advesaries. For specific references to such hie magic, try Deities and Demi-gods, the Mages Handbook, as well as any book detailing spells. or just take a 9th level spell and heighten it in anyway example: Succor- Mass Succor, Wish- Group Wish, Prismatic Sphere- Prismatic Hut.

AD&D 10lvl spells
There was a "10 level" (the reason for quotes is that they could be casted by clerics (max spell level 7) as well so for them they would be 8th level) spells in second edition D&D game, but they are called True Dweomers.
You may find info on True Dweomers in Dungeon Master Option: High-Level Campaign Rulebook, but they work (and are created) in more/less same way as Epic Level spells are created in 3ed.
