Pop up windows?

Today, I have noticed there are some pop up windows when I go from one forum to another. Anyone else has this problem? Buck? Is this a new feature or a problem with the Banner people again?

Btw, the banners tent to time out every few minutes or so. Then I have to click away 3 windows to get it working again. Anyone else having this problem? What can be done about it?

Once or twice, so far. A bit disconcerting. Well, I'm sure Buck has everything under control.

on a related note when i click on a banner it does not open in a new window it "takes over" the one i'm reading currently.

Buck writes:
This makes me very angry. My ad provider feels that they can just add popup code to my banners without my consent. I've emailed them once again, so if it continues, I will have to drop them.
Buck, this is exactly the kind of thing I was referring to the other day when we discussed a certain program that filters out pop-ups. It isn't the site owners who are meant to be targeted, but the ad providers who make unauthorized changes.

Definately second this one, to me popups are THE most annoying thing about browsing the internet.

I'm sure Buck is doing his best to get rid of these annoying pop-ups. But if pop-ups meen the continued maintenance of this site, I'm willing to deal with them. We wish you the best in removing the op-ups Buck.

I'm sure everyone will continue to contribute as much support as possible. Hmm... Maybe some double-time on add clicking is in store...

Sorry to hear about this :( Maybe you should try becoming affiliated with amazon or bol? i think people might be more interested in this sort of thing.

My company have affiliate links with amazon, they do not bring in a large amount of revenue but with the amount of hits this site gets your trade might increase.

Buck, I'm sorry you had to get rid of that ad provider. I'll try to click more on the ones left :)

I haven't seen any pop ups since, and what is even better: I don't have this problem with the banners timing out every few minutes any longer. I don't know exactly what you have done, but thanks a lot :)

Btw, I agree with mr Sleep about BOL and Amazon.

The only reason i mention amazon as a main choice is because i buy things from there, in fact it is the only online store i use.

But i only useit to buy music. If i wanted to buy games it would be from chips and bits. :D

Iäm sorry to say this, but I have occational pop up windows again. I'm not really bothered about it, but if Buck has an agreement with the ad providers they should not be there, they of course shouldn't.

Buck,
I thought I was going mad until I did a search for the term 'pop-up' to see if it was being discussed anywhere. I guess you are aware of the situation, but they don't seem to have gone away.

Yes, I still have them. Credit card applications and webcams that I can remember. And what's more, at least one of them did something that caused my firewall to have to hault the upload and give me a security warning.

If pop-ups are necessary for BG's survival, so be it... I would just like to know if that is the case.
Thanks

I agree - I hate pop-ups, but I'd rather have them then no gamebanshee :)

I've been saying that since the begining. Obviously Buck's ad providors aren't lstening too much to him. Well, as has been said. If we must deal with them, well, so be it. I rather have pop-ups, and gamebanshee, then no pop-ups and no gamebanshee.
