Henchman is dead...kinda (spoiler)

I'm in the maze/tunnel/challenge thing under the Green Griffon Inn. I'd just got to the end where I needed to put the crystal egg into the chest and I thought I'd put the other items in first and get a bit of XP from the monsters.

I put the crystal frog into the chest and me (a ranger/theif) and my henchman (Daelan Redtiger) killed the 3 monsters that appeared and are injured, but alive. I saved the game then had to leave. When I came back I loaded my game and Daelan is lying on the floor next to my character. I looked over his little portrait and he had 16hp left, but it also said he was dead when I hold down tab. The little box that shows what he is doing (under the arrow that shows where he is facing) had a little skull in it.

I can't click on Daelan directly to talk to him. I can give him order via right clicking on his portrait and he will stand up, but he won't move (although he does still talk). I used the gem to teleport back to the temple and get healed. When I appear he is still lying on the floor and when I get healed his HP stays the same (although the magical effect appears over him). I have tried kicking him out of my team, but the problem with that is I can't talk to him to invite him back into it.

I only have Neverwinter Nights, no add on packs. I have the latest patch though. Please help! I can't go on without him (well that's not true, but I don't want to.). The only thing odd I can think of is I gave him a potion to increase his constitution before the battle.

Also, a quick question - do Henchmen drain XP?

The problem is he is dead, the potion wore off and that caused him to have more hp then normal, when he lost the hp bonus he was in a semi alive state because i dont think the game can handle that at this point, the only thing i can think of is to load a previous save and not feed mercs any constitution increasing stuff.

Mercs dont drain experiance, they simply make you one level higher for your experiance calculations, any henchman/summon/familiar you have active adds another level to your class, they dont directly drain your exp, but you will lose a level or two in the end depending on how much you rely on summons and henchmen.

 I'm bringing up this old thread b/c this has now happened to me and I'm hoping someone has figured out a solution! Older saves are waaaaaay back and if I have to play w/o Tomi I'm in trouble ... I have no lock pick or disarm skills of my own. He was hurt but alive when I saved (and no I did not give him any potions) then when I loaded back he is just lying there dead. I tried using the stone but can't get him healed in the temple. Tried resurrection and raise dead spells. Nothing works. Thanks in advance for any help!
