The New ToB Best Tank

Considering all the new Abilities I have totally altered my mind as to what the best Tank is. Considering at Maximum level, the Monk and the Straight Fighter take the cake, If only Monks fists we're 5+......

Anyone Think otherwise?

You know a swash makes a really good tank =). So does a blade.

My PC Swashbuckler has an AC of -10, but I don't think he can fight as well as to be considered a tank, which is why I plan to duel-class him to a fighter.

I disagree about blades. Their THACO is too bad, and they can only wear chain mail. Their hit points are low as well. I personally like barbarians.

I can still not imagine Korgan beating Minsc one-on-one... Minsc's spells make him practically invulnerable if played right. The Mages are even tougher when fully prepped.

@Xyx: Korgan has better weapon specialization, which means he gets in more hits in a shorter period of time. I doubt Minsc would be able to get off a spell before the iron clad midget was all over him. Besides, Korgan is just better than Minsc against most enemies, especially Mind Flayers.

but you forget about use any item. You can get a swash's AC way up. Same with blades...even more so with defensive spin.

I doubt Minsc would be able to get off a spell before the iron clad midget was all over him.

There's an inconspicuous little level 1 cleric spell called Armor of Faith that has a Casting Time of 1. Mix a couple in between swings and you become impervious to combat damage. Without losing attacks.

Minsc can reach specialization, which, in SoA/ToB, is the only proficiency level at which you get an extra attack. Korgan's speed factor may be lowel due to his *****, but that only lets him land his blows earlier in the round, without gaining extra attcks.

My swashbuckler has an ac of 21 without being able to pick-pocket and 19 with pick-pocketing. Not too shappy eh? He uses scimitars, drizzts +5 defender and a wikashi that lowers my ac by a further point. Barely anybody can hit him, add on to the equation a necklace that blocks level drain (i forget its name...power something or other) and you have in my opinion the best tank in the game!
