Strange problem with Shadow Thief Elite Guards (Docks)

While fighting the Mad Cleric, some of the Shadow Thief guards in front of the building were killed by the cleric's Abi-Dalzim's. Now, after the fight, some Elite Guards keep following me around, which is very annoying. If I attack them, the invincible Arkanis Gath appears and kills my party. I'd like to get rid of them somehow. Does anyone know how I might achieve this?

If you have attacked Shadow Thieves (accidentally or on purpose), I don't think Aran Linvail will hire you. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong; it has been a long time since I've looked at the scripts.) If you can't find any other solution to your problem, start working for the rival "guild" (i.e., Bodhi and company) and see if that solves the problem. I'd rather do her quests, anyway. You will still be attacked by Shadow Thieves when you encounter them, but you won't be pestered by Arkanis Gath, and you can kill them all.

Perhaps I haven't expressed myself clearly: the Elite Guards don't attack me, they only follow me around. Everywhere I go on the Docks, I am escorted by three or four of these guys.

Well a nice escort of handsome thiefs shouldnt bother you promenading in the docks
. Dunno how to get rid of the problem tho, i know, i am a lack of help

Well, in general it *is* more amusing than annoying, since this time I'm a female Archer->Mage with effective CHA 22 (Influence Ring+Blade of Roses+Nymph Cloak) when I'm not preparing for a fight. Hey, maybe they'll even help me against the Lich if I can draw it out of the house.
But occasionally it has some annoying effects: after I got out of Prebek's house, there they were, blocking my way off the veranda. I had to do some juggling around with single characters to make it past them.
