Trueflame quest bug?

Ok, when I got to mournhold i killed that orc in the craftsmans hall, but there was no prophecy thing that game up to tell me how badly i just screwed up, and i knew nothing of the trueflame thing at the time. is there a way to get the next quest from amelexia without doin this sword thing, or is the game just bugged with not telling you you screwed up?
