Melee Heroes using Speed

Does anyone really know how important the Speed attribute is in Melee Combat? It says it increases dexterity in melee combat. Which for all I know that means skill, but does it really do anything that is of value to investing maybe 3-4 points into the skill? Or is it only valuable to those that use the bow a lot and maybe a little melee from time to time?

I use the bow only a little and magic maybe more then the bow, but I'm mainly melee.

Any help?

not sure

i mainly use the bow, so i have no idea

however, my brother says that he noticed his character running faster and his melee was faster, but only after upgrading most/all of speed

"some of the enemies can still hit faster than your character with speed mastered, it was worthless" - just his opinion

i do believe his "ranged weapon" was lightning and not the bow (spellwarrior)

I have to side with the "it's mostly worthless" crowd.

First character I had I quickly maxed Speed, and I was mostly using melee weapons. I thought "woohoo" I kick but now!

However on my current character I have hardly touched the speed skill and he's doing just fine. I don't notice much of difference between the two characters as far as melee speed. Or even drawing the bow for that matter.

To draw the bow full power still takes time. But this could be that he was upgrading to more powerful bows.

The thing that disappointed me the most is my first character has Maxed Physique, Health, Toughness, and Speed. And still swings the Heavy weapons to slow. The enemies just bash on him while he's winding up with that thing. So I stick with Light weapons. I'm sure that speed does make a difference, just not a very notable one.

Which dexterity means skill. So I have no idea what it effects for melee.

dexterity

are we talking dexteriry like the higher it is, the less likely to be hit

does anyone notice blocking/rolling faster with speed skills?

different attack skills

i have noticed different sword play skill after uping my speed skill as in my character will do a different move with his sword (and im not talking about flourish strictly the normal melee attack)

I'll have to experiment this once I stock up on exp points and save game ahead of time. Thanks, maybe some of these new swings are harder to block or something for the baddies.

Could Be Wrong, But It Seemed To Help In Dominating The Fist Fighting Gangs. I Seemed To Have A Faster Punching Rate Not Allowing The Other Fighters To Ever Get A Punch Off. Not Sure If My Maxed Speed Had Anything To Do With It Or If It's Even Worth Spending The Xp Points On It Though. But My Character Has Everything Maxed Out Now So It's Not Like It Mattered For Me. But It Is True That Even Maxed Out There Are Enemies With A Faster Rate Of Fire. Some So Fast That Heavy Weapons Are Useless If You Let Them Get Too Close.

Keep in mind people. The description of Speed says, it only effects attack speed of ranged combat. For melee it effects dexterity. I doubt maxing Speed made your punches faster.

The speed will increase your attack speed, to a point, liek if you have a greatsword thing it wont be much increased, but an obsidan katana will be much more
