Returning to battle squares

After doing 4 rank of Battle squares I moved to the next areas.
I am now in chap. 4 (monastery) and when I tried to go back to the ice temple from the monastery the only area open in the map was the river caves and I couldn't find exit from the caves to the exit.
Is that ok that you can't go back for the time being and when I'll be able to come back to the temple to finish B.S.?

That may be my fault, if read one of my recent post.
I thought you could go back even in later chapters at least I was told, because there is not much to finish the rest of chapter two.
I going to do a search thread on battle squares, and find out for sure, I encourage you to do the same. I will post back later or edit this post.
I know something about the overland map not changing,(IceTemple still visable on it you can go back). It may be the river cave exit and underground hook horror lair that I was thinking.

I read a post in a search for battlesquares, page two under my name.
It says you can go back up untill the time before you leave on Oswalds ship in the fields of slaughter. Once you leave you can not return to the overland map. This is the end of Capter four. You get chance right before then anyway to fullfill a favor for Nichademus.
If you found the river caves it should take you right back to the temple if you follow it the way you came in. I am thinking you missed the passage somehow. Check again and post back here

Well, it's possible to go back from the Monastery, that's sure, b/c I tried it. I wanted to improve my chars as much as possible before trying to finish the Battle Square, so I did the Fell Wood and the Monastery, and went back to the Temple again. Maybe the way back is closed after you finish the 8 chambers...?

I didn't even start 8 chambers when I tried to go back to battle squares, maybe is to get to the river caves you needed a rope from the dragon nest and that way is supposed only one way?
Anyway I'll wait to get back.

No, you can climb up the rope. You should be able to exit the caves through the same entrance you got in from the dragon's lair.
