I'm a straight Kensai (to be dual maged, dual wielding long swords+katana's)

I have Jahera, because I decided I would need to use her before I decided over her Anomen and Cernd. Minsc and Imoen have been sent packing.

I have 3 19's on first 3 combat stats, 19 on int, 10 on char and 13 on wisdom. (due to books from BG1)

Now, I've got like 26 mods installed. Including tactics ect.

Its too hard! I started playing on Insane, it was fine. Not very hard at all. Then I meet some Duagar (sp?) party memebers, 1 mage, 2 warriors, lots of dogs. Now these are hard, Then I meet the mage (he was in the fog of war) BAM casts like 16 protection spells. Immune to normal wepeons, etc. Now the only way I can kill it is by using dispel then quickly hitting it twice, once with Jaheira, once with me. Then either get my second wepeon in, or cast vampiric touch.

Ok, so its still going good, VERY hard but good (I quickly lower down to core rules) Now I encounter another pack of these guys, I use my second and last dispel. Kill them, in a lucky fight on my half. Quicksave, then go to rest. All of a sudden more duegar have spanwed, another 2 warriors with a mage, I manage to dispose of them, but my hp is super low, without out enough spells to deal properly with this problem. (this is a major one for me, because I just can't rest).

So I clear the dungeon, up to the exit portal and the library. (i can't look all the items near the exit portal because of traps and lack of rest to soldier the damage.

Anyway, I killed the Oruto (tentacle thing in center) head to the libary bottom entrance, and take out more duagar succesfully. Now this is super hard. I have my main on low hp. Jaheria can actually heal to full by shapechanging and then reverting back. I think its a bug, but at the moment, I don't care.

Then I enter the library, apart from say 3 mages and 4 duagar warriors throughout the room. (which is more than enough to deal with) I encounter Rasputin who uses his Monk stun ability to stun Jaheira, almost everyload. Then quickly followed is some mage, and some archer (both named - must be Illithid's friends). Then comes Illithid with a jailkeep golem on his side. Suddenly Illithid comes, with his histerical banter, then I am really close to death. All of a suddensomeone summons a fallen deva!! then I sea a daemon of some sort walk out.

So thats A monk, A mage, A rogue/warrior, a deva, a warrior, a daemon. And quite often a few warriors. These guys all come the second I step a few feet into the library.

How can I deal with this! I have 2 characters, I can hardly rest. This seems absolutely impossible. This isn't regular with tactics is it. Actual demons and deva's in the start up dungeon!! Man, what am I in for.

now I'm not gonna give up. I'll spend my next 30 minutes fighting off duagar while resting, gaining a level maybe so I can take on Illithid.

Heh - didn't I recommend not to install Improved Ilyich? It's made to be as insanely hard as possible, and, IMO, doesn't fit into the story and the world at all with its !§%$-real history references.
All the rest of Tactics isn't nearly as difficult. Improved Faldorn is extremely hard (I cheated there), as is Improved Irenicus from what I've heard, but nothing is as insane as Improved Ilyich. I have played most of Tactics' SOA encounters on Core difficulty now and everything is quite doable except Faldorn and Ilyich. Irenicus I didn't try in this game.
As for help: Consider the following, in my preferred order of priority:
(1) uninstall everythiing on top of Tactics, uninstall Improved Ilyich, re-install the others and start a new game.
(2) set the difficulty to easiest until you leave the dungeon.
(3) cheat (CTRL-Y is your friend)
(4) read the spoilers file that comes with Tactics and see how other people dealt with this encounter.

Ok, one question: Playing BG I (TuTu) on insane atm, kinda easy. But im plannign to import me char (assasin) to BG II. When i play tactics and any other mod's, (meaning making it more difficult, mroe enemies etc) will i get also get more xp for killing the more difficult scum???

Sending Imoen and Minsc packing was a mistake. It'll be next-to-impossible to kill the Duegar company with such a small party... What I did when I played was cast haste (Imoen) then hide in shadows, backstab&run with my assasin. It took a while but in the end it the dungeon was cleared.

You'll get more xp where the mod spawns more enemies.
You will also get different, usually more, xp, for some of those enemies who are more difficult with the mod, but most xp rewards haven't changed.

yeah, losing Imoen and Minsc wasn't the brightest of ideas. but Cernd????

having never played tactics myself, i can't help you. but try Jaheira's charm type spells (i think she has one at the start of the game)

Yeah. I now realise it wasn't too smart. I also must have forgot not to install illych.

Anyway, Imoen was levl 10 swashbuckler and levl 1 mage in my file due to a mod. Making her much cooler.

Uhh, yeah, I'm thinking on getting him.

Well perhaps I'll use this ctrl+y cheat. Its a shame through, I gain no exp from it. Makes me feel empty. - If I do cheat, to kill them (I think its the only option as some of the monsters are invunerable due to my lack of +3 wepeons. Or lower magic resist spells.

But at anyrate how much exp should I reward myself with for "killing" them.
I'll try to just cheat off a few of them, and actually fight the roge,mage and illyd.

Why should you award yourself any experience for ctrl-y'ing them?

Because the fight is impossible, however to be prepared for the others I should have the experience I deserved.

If you hadn't installed the component at all, would you have given yourself the experience of the fight you hadn't fought anyway?

ILYICH, the same dwarf in unmodded Tactics. If there was an illithid (mind flayer) in there, you could pretty much forget tactics.

Sorry, I meant Illych, heh. I keep getting the names confused because I still remember Illithid (the name, not the creature) so strongly. heh. Well.

I managed to kill Rasputin and got me a cloak of protection. But theres still the rest of them to kill, and I can't lure. Or use many other tactics from the guides to improved. What I'm gonna do is go get Yoshi to set some traps.

(if I keep resting, can I set more?)

I went off and got some good wepeons, used some traps to kill Rasputin and the Neophyte Hethnu (sp?) and finished them with my 3 warriors (got me Yoshimo - now kicked) - oh and I took the golem out with CTRL+Y - he was honestly invunerable)

Well then I ran off, did a rest, some more traps, then took on the archer and mage/clericguy) managed to get one badly wounded and the other barely then stormed the badly with Yoshi and Jaheria, then took on the other with me (kensai) used a lil bit of magic and they died. Victory!

Then went for the pocket place, took chloe, removed Yoshi, got more exp from the djinni quest. Now I'm out.

I'm in the slums got to chapter 2, although i swear its too early, I couldn't say no to that guy who wants 20k.

Now i'm gonna edit Nalia to make her fit the party a bit more. Also, should find the rest of my team, without picking up too many people. But man, the copper cornet was filled with new people due to my many mods. Well wish me luck, till next time I start moaning about herendously difficult quests.

Oh also, I installed TOB patch (official) but still receive "blank is busy and wont talk" crap, do I need to specificly install the SoA one, and will it effect my mods?! - elp.
