I've read several instances of players writing that the game+the 2 expansions is unbeatably long. I've only played a demo, and it was unbelievable. Anyone like to clarify?

You don't even want to ask that question, and I seriously don't want to answer in fear of realizing how many hours I've spent on this game.
It's insanly long............. no that's wrong.
Correction: It is exacly as long as you want it to be, depending on how much you want to do

let's see... if u want to complete EVERYTHING and your a rookie, I'd say about... 500-1000+ hours
if your a pro, then i'd say about 350-500 hours :D

but thas jus my opinion, and thas about how long it took me both time, when i was a rookie, and when i started a new game i was a pro... get my drift? :D  :)

I don't think there is an actual definite number of hours for completing morrowind completely, It will take as long as you want it to. My last game has taken me months to play and i'm finding new things every time i play making me play that much more to find out what i can do with my new found trick.

Amazing. I see pretty graphics I think, "Must be a short game." 500 + or - 100 hours

Ive been playing the same character in my game for 3 years and am still finding things to do...it's become a challenge to see just how far I can carry this character :D

So far it's been fun pushing the envelope :p

It not all that long, I have been playing for about, i dunno 35-50 hours on my char and soon i wont be able to get any more powerful, no mroe leveling, none of that, my items are nearly the best and most of my skills are maxed, so theres not all that much to do except escort all those helpless pilgrims and help kill all those evil witches

If you want to complete every quest and search every special item the gameplay is incredibly long. But I think you get bored long before that. I played like 2 months very much and the I got bored and played hardly.

I used to get bored so i changed to different characters and weapons to use, plus the quests i did were different from the usual stuff..then there's the mass raids into the ruins and such..i found that enjoyable..and making all those fortify luck potions..that was pretty cool just making them.

Each to their own. I prefer a game that draws me in, and offers seemingly endless quests. You can mod this game to take several hundred hours, and if you just wander around, looking at everything, a couple of hundred more on top of that. Or you can play straight through the main quest, with perhaps a few side quests to some guilds for their benefits, and finish everything in under 50 hours. It's really up to you. :)

I know morrowind is so long, but i dont play the whole game. I usually dont even get to Dagoth Gares. I just try to level up, and explore the mountains. I try to go to the highest point possible and then think about how cool this is
snip -> I try to go to the highest point possible and then think about how cool this is <-snip
I go to the highest point around. put on my (SPOILER): Nifty werewolf ring from Bloodmoon (END SPOILER) and jump as far as I can. Then I go back up and do it again :D
