Romances in BG3??

It would be a very bad idea to forget romances in the new game. In fact I think there should be more options to make the game more real. One of the problems with BG2 was that if your character was a female you could only flirt with Anomen. An homosexual romance could be great as well, although that's more difficult to achieve as not many countries are open minded to that. Gnomes and Dwarves couldn't have a romance in BG2, that should be changed in BG3 as well.
Do you have more ideas?

hmm all races should be able to romance so kind of character
not sure about homosexual relationships cause as you said not everyone is that open minded and the game could be banned from several countries :s

would be nice that a dwarf could romance an elf or a female dwarf :D
and the females should get more then just anomen

Obviously, if they are going to do romances in BG3, we all hope that the romances will be better than ever and be more diverse, intricate, and nuanced. I would like to see the romances extend beyond the party to include NPCs that might be non-joinable. Wouldn't it be nice to romance that pretty barmaid at the local pub, and thrill her with tales of your daring-do? :)

I hope they make it in the game, smaller things like this really added to the immersion factor in BG2. Also take it a step further like with Aerie and Haer’ Dalis, let your companions have a love affair or something. Maybe they get in a big fight and one leaves. :) Some might not like that, but it would feel realistic and add some spice.

I agree, all races and sexes should have the same number of romance options. If there’s two for the males then there should be two for the females and all races should be allowed at those romances.

Gay romances should also be included, as many gay gamers do want this option, instead of being forced into a male/female romance, if they want to pursue a romance. But, the U.S. is pretty conservative when it comes to this, so good luck.

I think an even bigger problem than countries not being open minded would be that if there was a homosexual race, it would only survive for one generation :p . Lol, anyways, I'm not too opinionated one way or the other about gay romances.

mmm...

Well the truth to it all is sales if the company does decide on a "gay" relationship sales could drop, I am in NO way putting gay people under scrutiny I am merly saying is that some people are not as open minded as we are, it's a sad point but its true, but then a great point to make out to all those people who think sales WOULD drop, how come in The Sims you can have homosexual relationships, and yet when the game was released the sales sky rocketed! I am not making an opinion but merly stating some of the many aspects of the argument!

Hrmmm well I always wanted to kill Hear'Dalis for flirting with Aerie, but I couldent if I didn't want her to leave. If there is a BG III and there are romances I say let NPCs have romances so I laugh at them like lets say Korgan falling in love with Nalia lol. But I really don't think bioware wants to get into the whole gay relationship game becuase it could offend or anger people, I'm not saying I hate them cause on of my uncles is gay I'm just saying some people aren't as open minded as some.

Yeah I really wanted to teach that damn Tiefling a lesson for musclin' in on my girl. ^^ But on a serious note, if there are going to be Romances in Baldur's Gate III I hope you can still continue the ones you have, like with Jaheira, that's a romance I'm interested in knowing about. Just like the Viconia one hehe ^^. Then again... how exactly are they gonna be able to make the Baldur's Gate II story and game, continuable in Baldur's Gate III. I mean... How can you export your character's game in a way, like in Throne of Bhaal, to make even the romance continue. When it's very possible that it's not gonna be compatible. Having 3rd or 3.5 edition rules?

They may have done this on BG2, but I'm not too sure as I never really got into the romance thing. I beat it a few times but I only used NPC's twice. I think they should have some romances between NPC's in which the "romance" is one sided. For instance, NPC x likes NPC y and makes advances, but NPC y rejects (politely in some cases, maybe not so politely in others) NPC x's advances.

About the gay-thing: you'd think that there would be some gay-romance mods or patches for BG2. There is of course a patch that lets you romance npc's of the same sex, but it doesn't change any of the dialogue. So Anomen would still call his tall, dark and handsome paladin boyfriend 'Mylady'.

Someone's gotta be the man in the relationship.

Romance Mod

I know this is spammish, but I just wanted to mentions the existence of two options for homosexual player is BG2:

Chloe for the ladies
Sola for the men...

Weidu did confirm that Sola was supposed to be bi, and the author of Chloe is so forceful about Chloe's sexuality that she will romance Immy if you can't romance her...

Well, exactly. There's no reason for the game developers to include an over-bearing variety of romance options as long as there are volunteer modders out there that can make quality additions that address the less-than-mainstream romance options.

Alright, that may very well be, but I think the creators themselves have a quality job to do when it comes to fullfiling the buyers' demands. Wether modders make quality mods or not should be irrelevant, seeing as we have to start with the hipothetic situation in which there are no modders, so it's their job to supply it.

First of all I'd like to say that romances are definitely my favourite thing about BGII - it just made the game feel so real to me.

Just something I was thinking of as far as romances is being allowed to make our own moral choices... that didn't come out right, I'll try an example.
I'm a Christian, and I believe sex before marriage is wrong - I'm not trying to push that view on any of you or start a debate or anything, I'm just explaining where I'm coming from. Now, I don't know how many of you have played the Aerie romance through. I loved it because Aerie is just such a nice sweet girl - I loved when she agreed to be Minsc's witch. But during SoA, she offered to sleep with you and you had to turn her down in order to keep the romance going. But shortly into ToB she said she was ready to sleep with you, and there wasn't even an option to turn her down without killing the romance. I haven't romanced Viconia but from what I've heard it has the same idea in it. I don't like having to agree with the game-makers' views that love must be expressed through sex - I expect plenty of you share that view and that's OK, I'd just be interested to have a few more options in that respect. Just wondering what you guys think.

Well... most people like sex. And let's face it, with all the danger the characters constantly face who has the time to get married. Live life friend enjoy it to the fullest, taste the delights it offers. You only get one chance, the world has evolved, and even in Baldur's Gate the characters know that marriage is just a formality, there can be eternal love without marriage. There can be children without marriage. Not that I'm thrusting modern values on you either, but I think you would like to make your partner happy wouldn't you? I mean... especially when you know you might not be there the next day to do so.

I think the difference in our viewpoints arises from disagreement on this statement:"You only get one chance" because I don't think this life is all there is. As far as "even the characters in Baldur's Gate" knowing something, all they know is what the developers teach them. I'm just wondering since people seem to want homosexual romances so they can fit in with their views, whether it is possible they may include a few more options for those of us with different views.
I'm not here to argue about religion or sex before marriage - I will if you want but that's not why I'm here.

Well about the Characters in Baldur's Gate I was just trying to go for some depth, but you're right I mean the developers have to cover alot of areas for people of all kinds. I didn't want to start a discution or anything. (The Princess Bride is my favorite movie btw ^^)

speaking of romance...maybe Bhaal might just have another grandson from Aerie after the 1st in ToB?

Yes, doesn't the epilogue say they had a daughter as well, or something?
