If you wanna cheat like that, don't bother and just use CLUA to get in all the items they can give you. (also, if you didn't realise, the apprentices can always survive, just keep loading and hope they live.)

the only way all apprenti can survive is if you order them not to make aything for the last test. and the ring of wizardry is something you simply cannot turn down.

Heres my problem, I don't want to go back to an old save, so can I clue the apprentie in?
How do I get the clue counsel up or working??
I should have not made the items and clued them in, that much I do realize.

If you do that, you'll also need to reset at least one Global Variable to restart the experiments. I'm sorry, but I don't know the codes.

I know it hurts, but after the Staff of Power, they don't really do much except graduate and give some cheap potions. You don't miss out on much XP...

But I know, I miss those guys, too.... :D

I read the link by Glenfar and to mysuprise after I dismissed the apprentices of their last duty, by selecting none of the three items, (staff, robe and ring)
they disappeared in a potal. Do they come back for a graduation or what????
I thought they stick around and make potions???
Please fill me in

highlight to read: in the last test, the robe of the apprenti kills one apprentice, the ring of wizardy kills two and the staff of power kills three. only if all of your apprenti survive can you witness the graduation ceremony (which is kinda sweet) and get the 20k exp (IIRC). then one of the apprenti will come back and make potions once a week for you.

in all honesty, the ring of wizardry and the staff of power (in my mind it's the ring, no questions asked but still...) are far better benefits than a random set of potions every week. and there are no recriminations from killing your apprenti either.

I'd say that from a roleplaying perspective, you should have no fore-knowledge of your apprentices' deaths, or why they occur. That being the case, even a "good" team could logically go as far as the ring of wizardry without suspecting anything, while a neutral or evil one wouldn't care.

How long is it between the last item and the graduation ceremony? Is it straight away, or is there a time delay. My apprenti vanished through the portal and haven't come back yet!

Cheers,

Definitely a time delay. I've had it take anywhere from several days to a few weeks, depending on where I go after getting the last item.

Fable thanx man, now I know you don't always post to just bum threads. Cool.
Note, it says in my Verus's Books strategy guide, that the ring of wizardry doubles first level spells, but when I clued it in, it gives a +1 fifth, sixth and seventh.
Any clue as to why or if I can get both rings???
Thanx

A friend of mine has the same book you got and there're tons of errors in there. Dont buy strategy guides! They mostly really rip you off.

I dont remember, but i think there're 3 rings in the game that gives additional spell slots. There's ring of wizardry, ring of acuity, and one with your PC's name on it.
The one you got is the 5th, 6th, 7th.
Ring of Acuity gives (2x) 2st, (1x) 3nd, (1x) 4th
I forgot what the last one does, or maybe i was dreaming or something.

The Ring of Wizardry is correct as configured in the game. The problem with strategy guides these days is that they're usually created long before the release of the game to get out in time, and so their information is out of date. If you want a ring that does the same thing with lower level spells, Edwin's got one, but if you kill him, the ring vanishes. I'm sure somebody here can give you the CLUA console code to bring it into the environment--or simply give the Ring of Wizardry to Edwin, as well. He won't object. ;)

it was there in bg1 as the strategy guide said, but with the higher levels of bg2 spells, its benefits were changed
