New to ToEE, already stuck with overburdened NPC's. They don't seem to get rid of thier stuff when bartering. They are weighted down and almost useless. Can't find any info in the manual. Also, how do you scribe spells from scrolls to memory/spell book?

It sounds like you haven't patched the game yet. I really can't recommend strongly enough that you get the latest Atari patch, and then apply the latest fan patch from the Council of Eight. With those both in place, the NPCs loot a lot less, and sell off a lot of things. Most annoyingly, they sell off their missile weapons without fail, but that can be avoided if you remember to take them away in advance.
As for copying scrolls... that's on the radial menu from the main game screen. I believe it's under the "hand" symbol, but I could be wrong. "Copy Scroll" - easy enough, eh?

First off there is a bug associated with looting, the NPC’s always overburden themselves and there is no official fix. There is a circle of 8 mod that fixes this issue. There should be a link around here somewhere, just do a search (co8 is an abbreviation). If you don’t want an unofficial patch then Elmo is the only NPC who only loots money. So I would only use him.
To scribe scrolls, have a scroll in your wizards inventory and then go to the radial dial menu, there is an option to copy scroll and you’ll see your scroll as a sub-option of copy scroll. Click on it and it’s copied.
Scribe Scroll is also on the radial menu but that allows you to create scrolls, so if you want an extra fireball scroll you can scribe one there for some money and exp.
