Shops Out of Cash?!?!

Well I've just read through a few character creation FAQs and they were quite helpful. I've since restarted as a thief type with mysticism and alchemy. My first problem is what do I do with all this loot since the shopkeep in the first town is out of cash. I've just not even finished bringing out all of the loot from the first daedric temple, and I've got no one to sell it to. My other question is, is there anyone in the first town who can train me in alchemy so I can do something with all these ingredients because right now my failure rate is pretty close to 100%? Thanks in advance, and I think once I can start successfully making potions this character will be pretty fun to play.

Is the "first town" Seyda Neen? If so just go to Balmora and there are A good amount of traders there. If not then keep it on your roof until someone can bye it. Another thing is that there are traders i Mournhold who have a good amount of gold! But that only for the GOTY version.

2) In Balmora, in the Mages Guild there are people who will train you in both Alchemy and Mysticism!

Hope this was helpful!

That's all I needed to know. I think I deserve a 24 hour rest anyway. It's jus t the 1st merchant. And I wouldn't have a problem if I could carry every thing but some of my most valuable items(large heavy weapons) were going to have to be left behind until later on. And how did you know about my roof? Is that like everyone's default cache in the beginning of the game. I'm only putting stuff there because it won't let me put anything in the hollow log. And I plan on walking to Balmora so I need to get rid of this crap now. Thanks.

And I have an older x-box and an even older computer so GOTY is outta the question.

There are two wealthier merchants on Vvardenfell: Creeper and Mudcrab. Creeper can be found upstairs in Ghorak (sp?) Manor in the town of Caldera (you can get there by mage transport from the Balmora mage's guild). He has $5000 gold.

Mudcrab has 10 K but he is a real pain to get to. He is located on a tiny island near the island of Mzahnch (check your paper map, it is due east of Ald Sotha).

If you have the Game of the Year Edition, you can also head to Mournhold (Tribunal), many of the merchants there have around 10 K as well.

Or, if you begin to find the bartering process tedious and are on PC, you can download various merchant plug-ins, or plug-ins that give Creeper additional cash.

While you are at the mage's guild talk to Aljira, a Khajiit downstairs, she will give you some training in Alchemy. Once you get to about 30, you begin to have better success at making potions.

Downloading "rich merchants" is actually pretty useless imo. You can do it by yourself by opening the editor (it won't cost you more than 30 seconds) and you learn something extra from it ;)

Who was it that needed people to tell him how to edit weapons? :p

But I agree, the editor is fun :) Thank god they decided to put that in TES4 as well!

LOL! Good point ;) Everybody has to start somewhere... Once you learn the basics it really starts becoming fun, I'm completely rebuilding the great house strongholds atm :D

an easy peasy way to do this is to go to the master alchemist's shop and buy Racer Feathers and *(Insert other flight potion ingredient) in bulk. (I forgot the name of the other ingredient, but I'm sure it's there). They're real cheap and if you go to Caldera, you can get a set of Master Alchemy Equipment! It's on top of the mage tower, and there's ABSOLUTELY NOBODY TO SEE YOU TAKE IT! Plus ingredients too. Now then, once you've got that, just start making tons and tons of levitate potions. the more ya make, the higher yer skillz. Soon, you'll get it up to like 70, at which point you should be able to see all the effects of potions and ingredients. Then start mixing Netch Leather (go around slaughtering Netches if need be) with Bloat (Balmora's lady sells that in bulk too) and get tons of powerful boost-intel potions. Mix intel pot, drink intel pot, mix more powerful intel pot, drink more powerful intel pot, mix even more powerful intel pot ... it gets crazy after a while. You'll have intelligence into the 1000s, enough to brew potions of levitate that last for a minute or two, or regenerate life like 30 per second, and other crazy effects. Oh yes, and boost strength around like 70 a pop :D .

Not to mention learning exactly which codes you need when you get tired of scrouging Vvardenfell for items :D

70 a pop? wow.... lol thats cheap. my guy cruises around with a 50 k intelligence that lasts for 12000 seconds, one strength potion gets me up a full 1000 pts, my levitate is just insane, my willpower is awesome... you name it. dont settle for 70 strength potions if you can go for the big stuff. :D go ahead, make the gods look bad.
