Maps and Soul Gems

I'm playing as a female High Elf and have some soul gems. I know you can put creatures in soul gems, but then what? - I'm not sure what the point is.

Also, I bought the Morrowind Strategy Guide and was hoping it'd have more detailed maps such as the layout of individual cities/villages. It's hard to keep track of where certain people live and the complex names everyone has doesn't help things either! Any help would be much appreciated. :D

For a detailed explanation I would suggest keying "Enchant" into the search engine. But basically, those souls can be employed to make some very powerful enchanted items. For example, if you find a good sword (Daedric, Ebony or perhaps Glass), you can place a paralyze on strike spell on it. Or.. you can place "Levitate" on a ring with a soul that provides constant effect (Ascended Sleeper or Golden Saint) and voila, you can fly for as long as you want to. Just two examples of the madness that can be achieved ;)

Yes and soul gems can also be used to recharge your enchanted weapons.

Yeah but recharging it pretty much useless, as sleeping or just waiting will cause an item to recharge on its own, unless you have azuras star and a good enough summon to place in teh gem to recharge, there is no point

Recharging can be handy if you are in an area where you can't rest though. Plus, it is also a way of building up your Enchant skill.

Recharge is not useless, plus what the hell else do you use those little soul gems? They are not that good for enchanting anything. I waste all the little green and blue ones on recharging. Yeah it builds up your skill. Plus resting after every 3 fights tends to get a bit boring.

Bah, i dont even waste my time collecting Lesser and such soul stones, and yes recharging is useless, once you train you enchant your items will recharge fairly fast and it will take les power to use spells off items

Right but how do you train your enchant? I mean sure you can get a trainer to train you, but then what is the fun playing then?

You can train every skill in the game by doing the action associated with that skill. You train Long Blade by fighting with long blades, so you train enchant by enchanting items and recharching enchanted items.
