How Do I Use A Boat

I was walking along the shore and found a row boat and jumped in it, but couldn't use it. Did I miss something?

No, you didn't miss anything, you can't use boats in the game. You can walk on water though..

And you can fly so there are enough other options
EDIT: If you were planing to go fishing flying isn't an option I gues.

Well, there are a few mods (available in most sites) that allow you to obtain and pilot a boat in real-time, however, I don't know if they're any good, having not downloaded one yet.
