Okay, I've read alot of Forgotten Realms books. Although not all of them. My questions is this: How does Bhaal die? I know when it happens I just don't know how. I thought it might be in the Avatar Trilogy, but I can't find it. Is there something I missed?? Is there a book or short story which features his demise?

Bhaal is killed by Cyric, when he was human, using a sword that is able to kill gods.....you later find out that the sword is the god Mask manifested.

I read about it awhile ago in the Avatar Trilogy, I believe the books are titled:
Shadowdale, Tantras and Waterdeep. Now, I don't recall all the details but the story basically revolved around a group of four adventures during the time of troubles. They were Kelemvor(a fighter), Midnight (a mage), Adon (a cleric), and Cyric (a thief).
During the series all the Faerun gods have been cast out and forced into mortal forms. I wish I could find the book to give the specifics but as I recall all the evil gods had all sorts of plots and schemes and at one point Cyric ends up confronting Bhaal
to stop him from doing something (I think it was out in the open near some bridge?) Anyway, as I recall, Cyric ended up getting in a lucky blow (back stab?) and ended up murdering the lord of murder. When Bhaal died he took all his followers with him, so everwhere in Faerun all Bhaal's followers died with him.
Again, I am kind of foggy on the specifics but that is generally what happened. It was in either the Tantras or Waterdeep novel but at this point I don't recall.
I also remember from many years ago that I bought the Shadowdale adventure module for AD&D and I was surprised at the stats because Cyric was only level 4 thief and a level 1 fighter (I think).

Wait, if Bhaal took all his followers with him, then how did Melissan survive to pester us in BG2?

I guess I have to go back and read the Avatar Trilogy again. In response to the above question...how does she survive? Or is that one of those little story flaws we are to overlook?

Hmmm, I know that the Avatar trilogy was the beginnng set of novels so they didn't explain everything. You'd think that there should be addressed somewhere. Obviously, not all of Bhaals 'followers' died so maybe there was some fine print in the word 'followers' like only followers of level 8 or below died with him. I don't know I am just speculating. The whole Bhaal-spawn issue was not even addressed in the Avatar series. So if they expand upon the Bhaal spawn story after the series then it can be rationalized that Bhaal probably let certain individuals live.

Who says Bhaal didn't hump other gods followers and got them knocked up? Fun to be a child of Bhaal indeed.
