...is the "good way" also the best way in the monastry ?

.

...as you have several options whom you fight in the monastry:

1. kill them all for the duergar

2. the good way "8 chambers" (what I did last time AFAIR)

3. and I think at least two other possible solutions...

...but what is the best way regarding EXP and loot - what items do you miss in which case ?

if you don't take the duergar quest at once - can you also do it later ?

As for the most XP I think it's worth to kill the duergars and do the 8 chambers.

That sounds good, too :p Assuming that you can still go back to the River Caves after finishing the 8 chambers and opening the gate to the Underdark passage.

Kill Them All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

Due to a glitch in the game I had to kill all the Monks & miss the 8 Chambers so I thought I'd go back and kill all Duergars aswell! Got some nice stuff not sure about the xp...but it sure felt good going on a massive killing spree! It's lucky you don't have to worry about your parties reputation in IWD 2! :p

.

...tried a few ways this weekend !

resumee:

1. it's quite useless to kill the monks cause they don't give much EXP and don't have any good items - even the quest items you get from the duergar aren't that good - but you can sell them for a good amount of gold !

disadvantage of killing the monks: you have to buy all spells you need and the adventurer book before killing them ! (means you need ~150.000 gold at this point !)

2. the only one worth killing would be Dolon as he has some quite good items !
...but this way you can't do the 8 chambers - so best is to steal from him what you get - but you don't get all good items this way :(

3. killing the duergars makes sense - cause you don't loose anything this way !

4. not killing the monks I get attacked by the duergars when entering the underdark passage !

5. open quest: does anybody knows what you can do with even-quest (the thief) - does seem to give anything besides a ring for another quest ?!

...btw. can anyone remember how much EXP he gets for killing the steel-golems in the black-raven tomb ?

...would be interesting to know how much extra EXP level-squatting gives ?!

Well i am not sure.. but my four character party was about level 15 when i killed those.. i got something like 1000-3000 XP each.. so you could figure things out.. with low level party perhaps 10.000 XP would close real number..

...hmmm...-...not that much difference...

...with my party of 6 - with an average level of 9 (14 or 15 with all levels taken) I get 4500 EXP per Golem so 18.000 EXP for all...

If you agree with him to share the loot, you'll meet him at the gate, and he will only laugh at you for being stupid enough to trust him and runs away with the stuff. Afaik there's no point in dealing with him. If you send him away, you'll meet the golems "only", and you can take the loot.

Well i meant 1000-3000 xp from one golem... but that was quite long i go since i killed them last time.. for me it simply just aint worth to effort...

I meant 4500 EXP for an average level 9.8 is not that much more as the 3000 EXP you get with average level 15

a few questions:

What happens if you agree to help that thief plumber the black raven tomb?

Can you complete the 8 tests, then go back and kill the monks? I'm interested in what Dolon has on him! Does anyone remember?

If you kill the monks, can you still free the Archimandrite in the Severed Hand and get his help in the last battle?

AFAIR:

items you can steal from him:

ring +2 CHA & charm person
bracers +3
short sword +3
some potions

you have to kill him for:

some armor +2 (?)
cloak of protection +1
