I'm at the part in the game where you save your mother from Jack and end up inprisoned with everything stripped from you. If you win the foot race you get to be in a room where the one dude is reading poetry.

What am I suposed to do there?????

Please Help!!!!

And much thanks :D

Once you get in wait for him to start reading poetry then sneak over to the wall beside the door, there is a little post on the wall read it and it gives you the password, then go back to the desk and there are 3 books open one and try to get hte key

Once you have the code (by sneaking - i.e. hold the left trigger while you walk, and watch the 'detect' meter) from the wall beside the warden, go back to the table to the right of where you begin and there are 3 books/boxes. Then click on one of these items. If you are wrong you will have to do the race again. Get the code again (it does not remember from the previous time) and click on another of the three books/boxes - NOT THE SAME ONE as before! If it is correct you will get the key, otherwise race again, rinse, repeat...

It's damned annoying alright, but at least if you fail your first time, that book will be closed and you can't interact with it. Then you just have to pick between two books the second time.

Anyone start a huge brawl instead of racing? I didn't try it because I didn't feel like getting killed! You - weapons = bad! Guards + weapons = worse!!!!

has anyone ever got it on first try? I think the game is just made so that you miss the first year but get it the second year.

On my first try I didn't even know what to do!
And only on my third try did I even notice that there was a 'detect' monitor for the warden... but once I figured out I needed the code before I checked the books, I got the right book first time. :)

the first time you actually tried using the key, or the very first year you're in jail?

no you can't do it on the first try, as you know if you fail you get that little story of torture and stuff..i tried it loads of times re-loading..doing the race..but i ended up just missing the year and getting it second time round

Race is tough!!

I must be doing something wrong; I've lost the race like 10 times in a row... frustrating to say the least... I keep getting 'hung up' on walls and obstacles... sometimes rolling around I'm better able to negotiate the obstacles...

Any advice??

You might get more attention if you started your own thread. However, winning the race really shouldn't be that hard. I'd encourage you to take it slowly once and just learn the path pretty well. After you know where you're going, you should be able to win with ease each time. At least, that was my experience. Personally, I would think rolling around would slow you down significantly. However, I never tried it much in the race.
