Hey,

I just recently got the game, am quite into the swing of it now, except for one thing - gems. Is there any reason I should keep them? (I know there's a quest which needs them, but is there anything else?) Or are they just for selling at stores for a meagre sum of cash? Lol.

Welcome to GameBanshee, Camdog. ;)

As for your question, the answer is "No, there isn't much to do with gems." The best thing you can do, like you said, is sell them. Besides, what's wrong with a little more cash? ;)

nope, they're just a kind of delayed cash. The only good thing about Gems is that like all items you sell, they're value can be increased by your Charisma. For this reason, finding a gem worth 50 Gp is better than just finding 50 gold. A good CHA character can boost it's value to 60 or 70 gold.

In general though theyr'e just a pain to carry around for their minor value. Still it's worth doing as in the early game particularly the extra cash is very worthwhile.

Is that also with the 'Merchantile Background' feat, or not?

Cheers. I guess I'll go sell them then :p Can't hurt to collect a gem sack full, anyways. Everything counts. Now I won't panic if I get too many though. ;)
