I have very wide taste within what you'd call rock & pop - but my taste tends towards the old...
My short list of top favourite famous bands off the top of my head:
The Monks, The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, The Cramps, The Beach Boys, D:ck Dale, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson (not rock or pop I know), Wilson Pickett, Jacques Brel, The Ramones, Prince, Iggy & the Stooges...but I could go on and on.
I like anything with real balls.

Elevator music. It rules. Nothing like butchering popular songs by having them transformed into the wimpiest, most personality-free genre known to mankind - Muzak!

Me it's heavy metal, along with some late 60s, 70s, late 90s and a few other recent rock bands.
My favorite bands in particular are Metallica, Motorhead, Iced Earth, Megadeth, and The Rolling Stones.

Of course, I forgot...The 13th Floor Elevators, the most acidic of acid bands ever to have lived (don't give me that honky grateful dead bull****). Also, lead singer Rocky Erikkson's former band The Spades kick arse royally.

Me: put simply.... No
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.

That gray area that is between pop and rock. I truly despise the bubblegum versions of both of the aforementoined genres, but there is still talent to be found in today's music; just not in today's radio-waves.
I'm currently quite partial to Placebo as well as A Perfect Circle. I recommend them to anyone interested in good* music
*Yes, yes, I know, it's all subjective. I typed the above with my tongue in my cheek.

Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak
Aren't Blink 182 and Green Day a bit punk?
Yes, in the same way that chalk is a little bit cheese In all fairness some earlier blink stuff is marginally, but its all alot more emo/pop punk for my tastes

It seems a bit mean to call punk that's self-sconsciously 'pop' and inadvertantly gormless and purile less punk than punk that's self-consciously 'underground' and inadvertantly retro and uninspired?
