Do summonings ever give experience points?

Does anyone know how summonings work with experience? Last night I allowed a frost Giant summoning to kill a foe by itself, and I got zero experience points for the kill. I had another Frost Giant Kill a foe, but with my party members also hacking a way at it. The Frost Giant got the last hit (the kill) when it died and I got something like 500 experience for the fallen foe.

So, the Frost Giant got the kill in two different scenarios and this caused two different experience point awards. Now I did a search and someone said you get experience for the hits not the kill in Dungeon Siege (didn’t find anything in IWDII forums). I was wondering if IWDII took the same approach?

I was thinking that maybe a party member actually got the kill and the Frost Giant also hit, but after the foe was already dead, hence the reason why my party got the experience.

Another theory was maybe the Frost Giant when fighting by itself didn’t get any experience for the kill because it was against a goblin. Maybe the CR was too low for the Frost Giant to get any experience. (I can’t remember what the other creature was when the party was involved)

My guess is you don’t get any experience from summonings who make kills. It was just some weird quirk that I got experience points in that situation. Anyone know the truth about summonings?

Well as far as i know.. YOU DO GET XP FROM SUMMON KILLS..

And how is XP given?

Well your partys overall level.. if it is lower you will get XP.. but if you partys level is higher than monsters.. no XP for you.. And i seriusly doubt that summoned creatures would affect XP gain..

Cool, like I said it was a goblin that was killed when the Frost Giant took him on alone. It's entirely possible that my party level was too high.
