Can I run the game without a dx9 card?

Just wondering if I can run the game using my GF4 ti4200 because on the back of the box it says I need a dx9.0c-compatible video card and I'm not sure whether this means software compatible or hardware compatible

HL2 ran fine but I thought I'd check here before I spend my £30

Thanks to anybody that can help

Looking at the box you need a card of minimal DX7. You need DX9 installed but that should not pose a problem.

OK cheers - I could have sworn the box I saw said dx9 card but if it actually says dx7 then I'm off to buy tomorrow

Thanks again

Double check just to be certain.

hrmmm, odd. my box says all sound and video cards need to be DX9 compliant, and running DX9.0c drivers.

I was able to run the game with a Geforce 4 mx, the loading was a ***** but it looks nice and there is little to no lag.

P.S. I also am under the minimum required RAM, it says you need 384 but I only have 256.

anyone having problems with low-end cards not performing well can force DX8 or DX7. there've been reports that it helps.

I have a ti 4200 and the game runs. A bit choppy in the big city areas but fine once you're indoors
