Turn taking?

Post by rhe777 »

Hi. I have been playing TOEE for the past year and I just got NWN. I was wondering if there is an option to do "turn based combat?"
Ex. When I am in a combat situation, my cleric seems to get bashed again and again while I am trying to cast a spell. I understand that a turn is time based (or at least it seems like it in NWN) but I am really used to the taking turn method of combat in TOEE. They hit/cast spell you get time to make your move/cast spell/hit/etc. One at a time.
Is there an option that I didn't see that I need to turn on? Or do I have to deal with it this way?
Also, I wanted to boost my morning star to a magical weapon, I have to feat, but all I can do is change the appearance. Can I get it to add +2, +3, fire damage or frost damage, etc.??
Thanks for the help

Unfortunately NWN does not have any turn-based options. You can whack the space bar to pause the game at any particular time, but there are no auto-pause features like ToEE or KotOR.

When playing a spell caster, the best option is to have a summoned creature up as a blocking screen. Try to get the enemy to attack the summons, then you can stand back and cast spells without the fear of an Attack of Opportunity or the like forcing you to make a concentration roll.

When it comes to making more powerful weapons, you can not modify an already existing weapon - in the original and expansion modules anyway. There are many player made modules which allow you to use the Craft skills more comprehensively.

Cheers,
