I have NO idea how to get out of Santa Monica. I'm trying not to cheat too much but did see that you take a cab or sewer but the sewer paths don't have a Downtown area marked so I'm guessing it's not activated.

I'm going to try to use the pay phones outside the Asylum but if that doesn't work, I need help! Thanks!

you have to complete the mission the prince gave you. You have to find a bomb and blow up a building and once you do that the cab actually kinda comes to you. however if you just started the game you might want to explore a little more there are a lot of side-quests in santa monica.
