Question from newbie.....

I have looked around and but not found too much on this issue. I think I have more books than the national library. I have been finding so many books that I have just deposited them in a pile in the central city. I have read through most books, but after a while it gets a little cumbersome. Is there a list that breaks down which books are needed and which ones can be tossed or saved for later. Or, are any of them even necessary to complete the tasks? Do I HAVE to have them?
Also, I have acquired a dire mace +1 (and a few other weapons). However, my Cleric can't/won't arm herself with it. Is there a reason for this?
Thanks

You don't need most of the books, but some are quest items (you will notice who).
You can only use a Exotic weapon like the Dire mace if you have the Exotic weapon proficiency feat.

As for books:
All "blue" books are just sellable. (Books with blue cover)
others (usually with a yellowish cover, but other colors exists as well) are either Tomes of some sort that descripes a recipy for some item or a quest-item. There are some non-blue books that are just sellable as well.
Tomes that aren't quest items - you can just sell/throw away after you have copied the recipy if you don't wish to carry it around. You don't need the Tomes to make items, just the right items, in the game.
Quest item books can't be sold and are either used to hand to somebody or because there is valurable information in it.
If you have completed a quest and still have quest books in inventory - you can throw them away.
I think this covers most of the books.
As for the weapon issue, you need to make sure your character has the right weaponprofencies to be able to use a weapon.
A Dire Mace for instance is an Exotic Weapon if I remember right - thus you need to have the feat that grants exotic weapon profencies to use it.
Hope this helps a little
