Containers

Just started playing this game about a week or so ago, and I got a quick question. Do those containers on the Ebon Hawk actually keep items you put in it? I tend to be a pack rat with those things and keep items instead of selling them the moment they're replaced, on the very off chance that I may need them in the future. I need a place to store all those spare blasters, blades, droid parts, etc. Not to mention it'd definitely help me organize my inventory...it takes forever to cycle through that thing. I just dont wanna leave my spare stuff in there, then go back later to find the containers have been cleared for some reason. =_=
