That glitch, causing stuff to be non-interactable can happen sometimes; it is fixed by reloading( Bet u've noticed it). <- I'm quite sure that's the glitch u encountered.
As for the chairs, do u have Heather in ur haven? She usually make a mess out of the furniture by walking over them(Otherwise I've no idea, sorry).
