Animate Dead progress?

Does anyone know what kind of Undead should be summoned by this spell at each lvl? I notice that a cleric summons the same kind of undead at lvl 14 as he did at lvl 10 - is that OK? (Painbearer of Ilmater, human). What else has an effect on the type of monsters summoned?

"Unfortunatly" the spell was nerfed in the patch so after lev. 10 you don't get better summons (the best being greater Boneguard and Zombie Lord).
In the unpatched version the summons continued to get better so you could get Festering drawned dead, Apocalyctic Boneguard, Mummy King etc., probably it was unbalanced.

I get Mummy Kings as regular summon - I think there are always two different summons available at a certain level...

...one zombie based and...

...one skeleton based...

and you seems to have a 50/50 chance which one you get!

What skeleton do you get? Are you sure you have patched version?

EDIT: is there something like a "crypt horror" in the english version ?

think there are 5 or 6 levels with each two types of summons...

...and AFAIK apocalyptic boneguards and drowned deads are the two types of the highest available level !

As far as i know hook horroes aint undead... those are same type creatures as Treants... but not sure..

no - not a hook horror - btw. hook horrors aren't undead creatures...

...translated they should be called Crypt Horror - you will find some of them at the lower levels of the BS - and they are on the same summoning level as Mummy Kings...

AFAIR & translated correctly you should get the following summons depending on caster level...

...not really sure if everything is right so please correct me if you have better informations!

level 1: Zombie - Skeleton ~ level 1-3

level 2: Chosen(?) Zombie - Plated/Armoured Skeleton Warrior(?) ~ level 4-7

level 3: Poison(?) Zombie - Higher Boneguard ~ level 8-10

level 4: Mummy King - Crypt Horror(?) ~ level 11-13

level 5: Zombie Lord(?) - ? ~14-17(?)

level 6: Drowned (Un)dead - Apocalyptic Boneguard ~ 18~20 (???)

You will find hook horrors in the underground caves (before the monastery).
You should be able to summon them with Monster summoning 4 spell.
They are definetly a lower level than mummy king.
As for the undead summoning:
lev. 1 ok
lev. 2 ok
lev. 3 poison zombie - boneguard
lev. 4: zombie lord - greater boneguard
In my version of the game (european english, automatically patched) I don't get anything better, although in the game appear higher lev. of undead, but AFAIK not from summoning spell (found the undead already in the map).

have the GER version patched (1.02) out of the box

...didn't any get Zombie Lords so far - but my level 13 cleric summons Mummy Kings - but maybe I just squatted the Zombie Lord levels...

EDIT: at dragon eye level 3&4 enemy clerics summoned apocalyptic boneguards and drowned dead!

It sounds weird, that means that either one of us has some kind of bug or that the german version and the european english version (also patched out of the box, at least so it's said) are different in some way.
I've never seen anithing better than the greater boneguard/zobie lord coming out of the spell, and never a mummy king (which should be much better than the zombie lord). Also the mummy kings should have some kind of auras that damage who stays close to the creature, is it right?
Anyway which is the experience of other player (expecially european ones) about these summons?

...hmmm...-...very strange...

seems that 1.02 isn't completely identical - and there are already a few other cases!

btw. both Mummy Kings and Drowned Dead aren't that great from my point of view...

...they are good cannon fodder - but in the fights where you could need some summons they don't do that much damage...-...and they slow down party movement rate...

...the BS drowned dead gave me a little headache - cause they aren't affected from disruption and need some time to get killed...-...but most of the normal summons aren't that great - at least in normal mode!

Just to clarify: Hook horrors are not undead. :) They are also not treants: treants are like evil living trees, basically.

All right. What is this "crypt" horror, then?

Yes hook horrors aint treants...

BUT... Due to reading long time ago some drizzt dork'urden books.. i could say that they met hook horrors.. hook horrons aint tree's but those are something similar... wood like creatures.. so axes are good.. but my memory is blurry on this matter.. so has anyone else read that book? Drizzt and his friends were going to mithril halls.. well they were searching those..
