Allusions in Vampire:Bloodlines(potential spoilers)

Post by showoffjp »

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

Throughout playing this game, I found many different allusions in the game which the developers put in. A few I can name off the top of my head(I know there are many more):

*The woman psychic on the beach in Santa Monica who mentions " leaving the city before the Jack in the box comes out", refering to the "explosive" ending at the end of the game. This is ofcourse a refrence to the childhood toy which used to scare the crap out of me...

*The music playing when you enter "Gimble's Prosthetics" is the same music played in the movie "The Silence of the Lambs", when Hannibal Lector is preparing to escape from jail(and kill both the gaurds, cutting one of their faces off)

*The video games in the Santa Monica arcade relate directly to the games that are currently being played(for example Call of Duty)

*Chunk singing the C.O.P.S theme after the Slasherpiece quest(if you didn't kill him, ofcourse...)

*Various video game refrences for different games and multiplayer(espeacially in the Megahurtz building)

*The Ocean's Eleven otel kind of reminded me of Steven King's "The Shining", as they were both very simular(husband goes crazy, tries to kill family, etc)

*All the many refrences to the bible throughout the game(Caine, etc)

*The Venus(greek goddess) allusion

*Allusion to all the old "zombies coming to life" movies during the "You Only Die Once a Night" quest

*Many others...

Any I missed? If you come up with any, feel free to list them...

Do a search of these forums, there have been 3 such topics I think. You got a few new ones though, good catches.

The Biblical references are all part of the mythos of the Vampire: The Masquerade game. Not part of Bloodlines specifically, but part of the entire mythology of how vampires and such were created. Therefore, I don't really count it as an allusion, as much as background information.
