Am I the only person with this problem? If anyone knows how to fix it I will forever be in your debt. EVERYTIME I go to drink someone's blood (kay, not everytime, but mostly) the darn game crashes! It makes my whole computer restart! Please can anyone help me or am I just going to have to suffer?

Ummm... wow. That really stinks. Now, for the standard questions. Does your computer meet the minimum specs, what graphics card do you have, do you have the latest drivers, how much ram do you have, what's your pagefile size, have you installed the official and/or unofficial patch, etc. Just a quick idea, that probably won't work... before you drink, bring up the console and give the "flush" command (no quotes). That clears up your RAM, might prevent something bad from happening... Geez, bad luck. I'm sorry. :confused:

uh...um...

Um, honestly, I don't know all that stuff...my hubby is the computer guy! I just got the game because he assured me that we had all the correct stuff to run the game. He even checked at home before he let me get it because he knew how much stuff it needed. I will try that console thing! No I haven't downloaded the patch...I've been a little anxious about it, because I've just started the game over again for the second time, and I don't want to start again until I've finished the first two...fingers crossed that the flush thingy works (sorry, I'm a complete dork when it comes to computer stuff). Thanks for the reply!

I'd suggest checking on the developers' forums to see if anybody else has had this problem. But it's not one that's been reported up here, yet.

Another one!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've decided to give up necksucking, and just live off of blood packs to save that crash, but now I am at the scene with Jeanette and Terease. I've decided to side with Jeanette, and now as I assume Jeanette goes for the gun, the game crashes to the desktop! The first time I played it, I got them both to get along, and no crashy. Is it because I'm siding with Jeanette? HELP!

heh...

Well, actualy, the game really isn't that stable as it is, with all the bugs, crashes, graphical/engine errors, etc. It may not be anything you could controll at all anyways, and may be anything ranging from memory overloading or leaks to the game engine malfuntioning when you reach a certain command. If you wanted to get real technical with it(and since your hubby is the computer guy), you could always go to the Vampire:Bloodlines directory and read the crash logs(logged everytime the game crashes), and see what command the game comes across that causes it to crash or something or the other. You may or may not be able to fix this once you find something(as I know somethings are easily fixxed with the console), but whatever you do, I wish you luck. Worst case scenario, you have to beef up your persuasion a point or two so you can side with both the sisters, making them co-exist, and preventing any furthur crashing(for the time being). I hope this somewhat helps, and that you eventually solve your problem... ;)

Do you get any video stutters or other errors? Have you seen a vampire death yet, any problems there? Try setting video settings to minimum. To me, it sounds like your video card is not up to the task of running the game, though it also could be too little ram.

You see a vampire die in the opening movie.

But out of curiosity... how do you get past the tutorial if you don't drink the blood that's offered to you? If she was able to drink then, than I doubt its a graphics glitch (though who knows with the amount of playtesting they put into this game...)

Well...

Okay, went into the directory and looked at the most recent five crash logs...yes, all at the same spot. I saw the vamp die at the begining, and I've even killed a couple more before getting to this point. I've copied the crash report here it is...
* * * Vampire Crash Data Log, Generated From Exe Built On: Oct 6 2004 * * *

vampire caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module mssmp3.asi at 001b:26f05d86.

Read from location 0000286c caused an access violation.

There is a lot more, but I figured that this might be enough info for SOMEONE to help...It also goes on to list about 70 modules underneath, but This access violation keeps appearing. Any ideas on how to fix it? Like I said, I've played through the game up until chinatown before I started this new character, and never encountered a recurring crash like this before, so my computer can obviously hande the game, just not this certain bit. I have just downloaded the patch, and I am very close to just starting a new game...so no worries if no one has any ideas!! Thanks for all your help though!
