Amazing Grimgnaw :)

I had gotten my hands on a scroll of "gate" and was feeling playful, and thus decided to pit my henchman against a balor.

Grimgnaw, at that period in time, had improved invisibility, endure elements and stoneskin present (I had just finished fighting a lich.) Note: Said stoneskin had less than 20 points of protection remainding.

Now I'm expecting the monk to get trashed, seeing that he is only level 9 (I'm level 10) and the balor is a level 20...balor.

But AMAZINGLY, he survived. And not only did he survive, he managed to seriously trashed the balor. By the time the balor summoning's duration was up, Grimgnaw was at seriously injured, while the balor was at near death. And I had NOT interfered in the fight for its duration.

Does this show the power of a buffed up monk or what !!! :D :D :D

Tell me about it.

Another nice thing about Grim. He's spell immune.

I'm a level 10 wizard right now with a Hell Hound Familiar. I can cast Fireballs and Ice storms and so one on Grim, and he comes out nto the worst for wear. Most importantly, I can cast my empowered Negative Energy Bursts without fear of hurting him, my hell hound, or my Skeleton Cheiftain Summon. Life is good...

And one last nice thing about Grim? He has impressive Will saves. I have a friend who's a CG rogue with Daelan as a henchman, and according to him he gets himself dazed and confused and slept constantly. I've never had that problem with Grim. So far as I can see, he's the best henchmen a mage can have.

Yes, monks and cleric have crazy will saves. And his fort and reflex saves are not bad either (when evasion is added to it).

He might not have as much HP as the half-orc, but enemies never get to hit him anyways. :)

A monk has all his saves to the top, but since he needs Wisdom to progress, his will saves is higher.

Spell immune? I know he has spell resistance, but immune to spells.... I know when you examine Grimnaw, it says tha he and the other henchmen has spell immunity, but I don't have a clue what exactly it does...

Monks have godly saves, great spell resistance, great damage potential and lots of interesting/useful feats/special abilities.

What else would you want in a warrior? :D
