Dropping off NPC's on a logical spot

To some people, this maybe sounds a bit stupid and unnecessary, but when I drop off NPC's, I like to leave them behind on a "logical" place, instead of just letting them stand 24 hours a day on the street, even when it's raining. For an excample: Branwen/Ajantis at the Temple of Helm in Nashkell, Xan at the house of Firebead Elvenhair in Beregost, Xzar & Montaron at the High Hedge with that evil mage and Garrick at the Nashkell Carnival.
This may have no influence on the main story line or even on the little side quests, but by doing so, I feel like making the setting a bit more logical; the NPC's end up at a place where you could expect them to be, making their characters a bit more believable. Also, you run into one of them every now and then, so they are not "just gone".
Does anyone have similiar thoughts on this?
