should i play iwd 1?

hi all. new one here. i'd like to solicit your opinion. i'm torn between buying icewind dale. problem is, i liked iwd 2 a lot (still playing it now), which is why i would love to play iwd 1. but i hate 2nd ed d&d rules as implemented in baldur's gate.
if i'm not mistaken, iwd 1 is based on 2nd ed d&d rules.

IWD1 is like the IWD2 game style but with the Baldur's Gate ruleset.
If you don't like the rules you probably won't enjoy it; it is more hack-and-slash than the BG games but I still quite like it.

Yea, character generation and micromanagement of the party isn’t as fun in IWD as it is in IWD2. Although IWD has a better story and has a little more personality than IWD2. If you were sold on not trying a game with 2nd ED rules, then I wouldn’t play IWD. But, if you’re on the fence about the rules I say give it a try. It’s a good game.
